A note to any who get my problem with a "Return to this page once the game has been released" page. Make sure you add the "b" like he says in the description.
Nice job, man. You made it. Most indie developers never make it to this stage. My five bucks are dropped.
A note for anyone with wierd sound problems: make sure your sound isn't set to studio quality on Windows 7 or whatever, as I noticed it broke up at the start of the game because I had it way up like that.
Late as fuck, but maybe this will help someone else.
Go to Control Panel. Click Sound. Go to the Advanced tab. Under "Default Format" should be a drop-down list of the various bit rates and Hertz's and shit you can play sound back. Yours is likely at the highest rate -- set it to the lowest and play the game.
This probably won't have a huge impact on your sound quality unless you're an audiophile.
I wish you luck in avoiding any jerks who either upload a copy for sharing or give out where the download is. always going to be some *** who feels it's fine cause he doesn't want to pay money.
You might want to make a bug report page, or if you are done make a statement saying you don't want bug reports. Feel free to ignore if that is the case, but I found an odd bug. In the demo, after you got the flame upgrade, you could go back to the beginning and drop down a chasm on the path to the roll upgrade. There you burnt a plant to the left and could go though a gauntlet of jump traps, spikes, and electric traps to get an attack upgrade. Now the end is simply empty of anything at all.
Anyways, loving the game! Keep up the awesome work.
Haha I feel as giddy as a school girl. The new demo accepted my old save so no problem there. I dunno why I wasted time with the demo though when I bought the full game already. Anyway time to play for real. Thanks Kyrieru and here's hoping you exceed your expectations by a large margin.
Paid and DL'ing now! Can't wait to see how it all turned out!
I have to say though... it threw me for a loop when the false download screen said to return once the game was released! You might want to make a note on your download instructions about ignoring that part ;)
My apprehensions about the relative ease of the first area are completely relieved... the next section is TOUGH!
I've got a question about Kuro's eyes. They're normally blue, but they turn red during gameover CGs. I know you don't have a story per se, but is the change in eye-color supposed to indicate that she's been infected, mind-fucked, broken, etc.? I'm assuming that's the case - my I'm just curious if you have an "official" answer?
Bought and downloading as I speak. I don't remember the last time I felt this good paying someone five bucks. Hope things work out for you, and then some.
Alright, encountered the first bug, rather heavy one.
The third stage, the one where dragons appear, if you save on the first checkpoint, you won't be able to load from there.
As soon as you hit "load" on the main menu, you hear the "dying" moan from kuro and the game exits. Worth investigating on this since everyone who did not make seperate savegames is truly fudged if he runs into this.
I got to this bug too. I changed one number in my save file and the save worked fine with that, but my ATK dropped to 0. Is there a way to hax the stats?
Anonymous above there, here. Found a fix to this. Just put my savefile to another folder, deleted Kurovadis and unpacked it anew from the .rar which I luckily saved. Put the savefile in there and it works.
Found a bug at Succubus boss. If get hit with the heart and the succubus comes to kiss you while you're in the state caused by it, if you don't die from the kissing the succubus animation switches to a soldier "finishing" animation and then the soldier-turned-succubus disappears.
Just finished playing through... and it was great!
Some sections were very tricky, and required a fair amount of level grinding to survive.
The CGs were mostly good - I think I almost like the animations more in some cases, though of course the small resolution hurts. Some end-of-game unlockables would have been nice, such as a gallery mode, an increased difficulty, alternate costume, etc. I'm sure that's all stuff you'd considered if not for time-constraints... Maybe features you can add to Kurovadis 2..? ;) But Crimson Blue first!
All in all, the short-comings don't take away from the polish of the rest of the game, and it's well worth the $5. Thanks for seeing this project through - I'm looking forward to the next one!
Downloading it right now, 5$ isn't much especially for europeans like me. I hope that you will enough funds to be able to work on Crimson Blue as much as you want.
Though found a bug with the succubus boss, if one of her kisses lands, and you just let her kiss you, after a while (until normal enemies reach climax) She turns into a soilder and climaxes, after that she just dissapears and I'm stuck with the boss life and music, but nothing to do :(
Purchased, downloaded, and hell, may even donate some extra to ya! Honestly, for me the H-scenes and the like are actually secondary for supporting you and this game. The quality of the game shows that you have great potential as a game maker. I've bought games from Steam that have horrible laggy and stiff controls, yet you have done an amazing job in that category. I shall look forward towards all your future projects! =)
Wow! That area after getting the rolling attack is brutal! Am I missing one somewhere or am I supposed to go through over a dozen rooms of difficult-to-near-impossible to dodge traps and monsters without a checkpoint in sight?
Oh well, guess I'll have to come back when I have a bit more time to play and just bash my way through after levelling 10-20 times. So far so good, though. Still a tad heavy on platforming for my taste but hey, more monsters, so I'm good.
Eh, did some tweaking with the program that lets me use the PS3 controller so that X is melee instead of Δ... still was having problems, so I got it to use the right analog stick for Vertical Left... it's awkward as hell, but I can at least do platforming now. Dunno why MotionJoy doesn't have an option to swap DPad and LStick...
Also, this was odd... and I couldn't replicate it, but... I apparently simultaneously killed one of the big tentacle guys while he grabbed me. The result... suddenly, deep in the ground, and power-raped to death by a non-existing foe. Couldn't even struggle to get out. Was totally weird.
Actually you can switch it because I use MotionJoy for my ps3 controller too. All you do is go down to where it says custom for your mode click create, and then in the profile editor select from the first drop down box to make it keyboard and then the right drop down box to select which key to map it to. After that save it as whatever you like I named mines kurovadis so I can remember it.
Also you may have to make sure your MotionJoy is up to date.
Is that so? I'll have to check it out the next time I play the game... which will be when my freeloading company who came over the other day leaves... =_=
Still, I'll be sure to try it out. Thanks for the tip!
Firstly, the area with the little trampoline thingies on the ground in the starting caves (through a vine) used to lead to a +stat... thing, in the demo. Now there's nothing there.
Bought a copy. The spritework is pretty good, although the game is pretty difficult on Normal for me... but maybe I'm just terrible at platformers. And I keep being off by a key, so I shoot when I meant to jump, but maybe that's just because I'm used to my fingers being a key over.
I've only gotten the normal CG game over so far, and just got the Roll upgrade. The spritework alone is worth the $5. I do notice that the character isn't damage if she's raped though? Only that big old penis-like monster (which totally caught me offguard) seems to hurt her. Everything else will rape her, but she'll take no damage. Bug?
Found a bug. If you get killed by the witches who give our heroine a penis, then hit Continue from the main menu, our heroine stops being able to walk horizontally. You can move horizontally, if you jump first, but if you're standing still, then she'll start running more-or-less in place.
Same here. When you lose to the witches and then continue, the heroine does not move correctly. It happens 100% of the times on my Kuro V3. I'm running it on a Windows 7 laptop using the keyboard as control
Bought and in download. I Believed that 5$ where a fair price for the demo so I've added a donation as a little token of my gratitude for your dedication.
Ah, just coincidence then. Curly is a character from Cave Story, I thought of her because she has the same little head... things. Then again, they make me think of female CAST accessories too...
Well, first things first - this game fucking rocks. But it needs a map. Try as I might, I cannot find the last red wall... thing. ANYWHERE. Is it on the same side as the other 2? or is it completely different? I'm so frustrated. I've been stuck like this for like an hour.
I agree, if there's any way you can include a map, it would be appreciated. In addition the stat thing seems to be missing at the very beginning behind the two blocks.
It's not that it's missing, it's jut that you already got it...somewhere else. I put the same powerup in two places by mistake. That's what causes any of the glitches surrounding them.
Yes, I would like to know as well if there are cg's for all the enemies. Sometimes I get the normal Game over, and other times I get a special cg for the enemy.
So I beat the game. I gotta say that was definitely money well spent. It had a nice difficult curve from oh this is a piece of cake to damn fucking monster/trap. However the gameplay was still solid and fun enough to prevent me from rage quitting. (especially at the end boss)
Level designs was tight reminded me of the harder megaman levels except with out the insta-kill spikes and drops. (Thank you so much for not making any insta-kill objects)
Only bugs I've noticed was the sucubus kiss turning into a soldier at climax, (which you said you'll fix) and the magician girl game over caused my save to be corrupted. (Which scared the crap out of me when the screen flashed red and she moaned) However I was using a demo save when I made a new game it was fine.
As for the cg's some was great other's not as much her puss seemed too umm puffy. CG's aren't why I play the game though.
All in all awesome work dude. I am definitely hoping you exceed your sales expectations so we can see what you can churn out when you actually make a game you can put your heart into.
But that would ultimately make a problem if you don't have access to that link anymore. In order to get the download you need to buy it through paypal, then you get a link which you must add the letter B to. Now if we don't bookmark that link/remember it we must buy the game again in order to get access to it.
Though of any solutions to this? or should we just buy the game again if me forget the link? :P
Bought it and it is a really good game. So good that I feel bad in a way because I can't tell a lot of people about it due to the type of game it ultimately is. I encourage everyone that is able to buy this game and/or donate. There are so few people that can and make these type of games to such a high degree of quality.
I sincerely hope that the sales go as well as you hope (and then some) and are able to make more games. H Game or non H I will be buying whatever you make in the future.
IMO, even without the H content, the game seems like at least a $10 game to me. It's a lot of fun, you did a very good job. Pat yourself on the back, Kyrieru!
Hey I was wondering if you could put out a gallery with the CGs and the pixel animations. Maybe when you beat the game. Also wanted to add that this product was worth the 5 bucks. I am really interested to see what you do with more time.
I'm not running into a huge number of bugs, except for the spider women walking through walls at the last stage. One QoL fix would be to keep your last weapon equipped when loading a save. It sucks to change your weapon every time the boss pwns you.
Getting that instant red flash + death moan + game shutdown when I try to load my V1 save game in the new V4. Tried saving at different points (in V1). Didn't change anything.
It says on the download page, old saves don't work. I removed the encryption from saves because it was causing problems for some people so unfortunately old saves aren't compatible.
As a result though, you can edit save files, so start a new game on your difficulty setting, save in the first save point, and then edit the save file, following this, http://kyrieru.blogspot.ca/p/kurovadis-save-pattern.html
I'm looking up room numbers, so I'll add that in a bit.
Well, damn. Hadn't noticed the text. Didn't it say something about demo saves back when it was V1 for download or is that just me getting old? But in any case, thanks for the editing tips there (and a thumbs up on the game)! :D
Seriously great job on this game. I was also trying to work on my own h game platformer and have been inspired to continue again seeing as how a real developer can make something this well polished and get this many sales (in a short time span). I purchased your game and will enjoy playing it.
Also, can't you make some cover art? I really want to burn this in a disc and put it in my collection lol Only the front cover would be awesome! I really love your art style.
I missed a boss..?? Apparently I missed a succubus boss. Where is it? I'm on the final boss and I haven't seen this one at all. I'm guessing I sorta need it.
From the place where you got the rolling attack, go left for a couple areas then drop down the whole. Go left from there and there's a checkpoint. From here continue to the right for several areas to get to the boss.
Hey, don't know if you remember me. I used to chat with you here and then on ULMF before you made the blog. I'm glad to see that you have not only compeleted a project, but are also getting money for it. Odds are, as I am too much of a brokimaru currently to purchase your game, I will on a fifty fifty chance pirate it tonight depending on just how much I value having sleep before I jog to work (lack of bus funds, silly me and my living a ways away from work and all). However, come Friday when I get paid, whether I have or have not pirated Kurovadis I will pay for the full version. ^_^
I suggest all who decide pirate Kurovadis, and feel that Kyrieru has rightfully earned some moneys to go toward the next project with this awesome basket of winsauce, to at some point contribute even if under the table. Besides, even though Kyrieru here is being awesome enough to be like 'I understand not everyone can afford to pay for this,' I would like to throw in that in the same note that even if a few of those bucks would NOT go toward the next version of Kurovadis, he probably deserves profit anyway.
Also, on a random note, if I were to say want to commission Wolf-Type enemies for Kurovadis could that be possible? I would totally sling a few bucks your way to help make it worthwhile.
Okay, I've now played through most of the game, all that's left is the final boss. Thought I'd give a quick overview of what I thought:
The things I enjoyed the most; Futaizing witches, tempting succubi, getting really good at the platforming, and the final area's music.
Thing that surprised me the most by its inclusion where the metroids.
As for glitches, I only saw a few. First off I noticed that a number of the foes still don't have damage from their grapples, is this intentional? In the save just before the second boss my character got stuck in the ground somehow and every time she landed after a jump she couldn't move unless I jumped again, wall jumping seemed to solve the problem. When walking onto those platforms that can disappear, they don't seem to line up properly somehow with the adjacent regular platforms, and the character will fall under then if you just walk straight onto them.
The bug enemies give a lot more experience then I think they're intended to. They seem to give exp twice, when the finishing blow is dealt and then when they explode. It isn't uncommon to get 5-7 exp for each kill of these very weak enemies.
Yeah, the flies seem a little broken to me. They also seem to drop a lot more health than other mobs. Not sure if it was intentional to make farming easier on the later levels in case anyone got stuck.
Frankly, they would have been nice to have in that area just before the succubus boss, which was much much harder to get through without taking loads of damage, as well as for the boss itself.
Right, another bug, this time related to the charge up punch. If you time a roll at just the right time when you unleash your charged punch, it will hit foes twice.
i like to buy your game but i no have the credicard if so please put in banking slip too i will buy you game oh yes i will wait first you finhis to repair the bugs^^
I've noticed a bug with the acid spitting grey monkey things (that's about as descriptive as I can go without cussing at them) where their rape animation makes you hover off the ground during it. I'm guessing it's some sort of Z axis bug.
How's that joystick-disabled version coming? I played through the demo but was very frustrated by the controls on my gamepad. I think being able to use joy2key without any conflicts from the default controls will solve all my problems.
You should post a little blurb about the game and that it's released now along with some images on the GoR and Hentai Platformer threads on Hongfire, probably with whatever promo images you're going to put on DLsite. It should help the game increase it's visibility.
Ok... I've lost almost 30 times against the damn succubus!!! In your next game, please have some pity for us "platformer challenged" players. I mean, she shoots TWO "homing kisses" at time, they DEAL damage and then she links the groping attack that DEALS DAMAGE, and then she shoots the DAMN ICE CRYSTAL that hinders you AND DEALS DAMAGE, and then she goes berserk with the "smart bomb" ice attack that DEALS DAMAGE... I mean, she seems a standard cheesy boss from a goddamned "King of Fighter" game!
Maybe giving the possibility to shoot the "homing kisses" down or at least to have them not deal damage would make the encounter less of a "run-left-run-right-jump-changedirectioninmidair-shootthebitch-nonononononono!!!GODDAMN!!!" and a little, you know... more tactical...
My only complaint is that the wall jump mechanic isn't like Megaman X where you can keep kicking off the walls. It makes the jumping and platforming areas with traps frustratingly hard to get past.
I'm not sure if this is a bug, or if I'm missing something, I've got the fire, ice, and laser weapons, and I'm at the last boss (I'm assuming), after I whittle his health down enough, he starts dropping fiery rocks from the ceiling, and I'm suddenly completely unable to damage him with any of my weapons, including charged punches, regardless of where I stand.
I have this exact same problem. I'm thinking you need to get behind his head (using the platforms he drops) and attack him. No idea though. Try the roll attack.
I kind of found out about it on accident since I'm inclined to press down and forward on my pad. Not to mention it's a bit intuitive if you wanna try hitting someone below you and you don't want to line up next to the guy.
Once the final boss is on his last legs, the only way to hurt him is with the ground pound (as far as I know). Punch down to do it, you have the power from the start and I actually played through the demo without knowing about it. After I did, it made the game a lot easier.
Well. That was the most satisfying game I've played in quite a while. Can't wait for the next few! Quick question - do you make all the music yourself? if so, that's pretty awesome, not gonna lie. However, i was a little choked that there was no gallery mode, and the lack of Succubus CG made me sad. (Unless there was one, and I missed it)
Mr. Kyrieru would it be possible to have a counter set up as to how close you're to reaching your goal? It would be interesting to see the progress, and I'm sure people would donate more to your future projects if they could see it as well.
You're awesome! Thank you for a (I'm assuming) fun game. I was able to play the very first demo and the most recent updated demo. The game itself does not run for me. I don't use Windows--I'm running Ubuntu and FreeBSD.
For future games, may I put in a request that for all Windows-based games(prior to Windows 8 that is), that you base the game off of Wine--instead of Windows itself?
Here are some links: http://www.winehq.org/ http://vorbis.com/ http://www.webmproject.org/
Basing the game on Wine will ensure the widest possible audience because all Windows users(again, prior to 8) will be able to play the game--as well as everyone else running alternative operating systems(ie, Mac, Linux, BSD, Haiku, ReactOS, Amiga...pretty much everything). Wine is used by virtually all operating systems.
Needless to say...if you want to make more money on your games, it pays to reach a much larger audience. I for one would be happy to spread the word.
I've now run completely through the game about four times now. I've posted earlier, but here's my thoughts now that it isn't as shiny and new, in no particular order:
This is still a damn awesome game.
The platforming gets easier the more you play - even on a keyboard (the only game pad I own is archaic and doesn't work for modern systems) - in fact, the better you get, the more fun it is to just run and jump around, bouncing off walls, dodging enemies, etc. In other words, I wouldn't worry about those that say it's too easy or too hard to get around. There really aren't any areas that are horribly punishing.
I specifically tried to beat the game without doing any grinding this time. It's tough, but doable. The succubus boss is especially tough. Her flight pattern seems erratic, but after she kills you many, many, many times, there does seem to a sort of pattern to it... nothing that I'd care to dedicate to memory, but she gets easier. The flame-thrower helps to cover your mistakes fighting her. Getting your defense stat up is a MUST, however, as it's difficult to avoid getting hit at all, and since the first area of the game is so much easier compared with the second area, it's possible that players won't realize that they should put a few points into defense. I don't think that's a big deal, because it's entirely possible to go back and grind a few levels, but the difficulty curve gets pretty steep pretty quickly.
All of the above said, playing the game more and getting better at it solves most of these problems.
The last time I played through, I didn't attempt to die on purpose for any CG breaks. I take that to mean that the game play is solid enough that I wanted to play the game, not just look at pretty pictures.
However, there are still some scenes that I like more than others:
The last boss is delicious - I'm always disappointed that it doesn't last longer or that something else doesn't happen, it IS the last boss after all.
I'm not a huge futa fan, but the witches are great. I can't ever get their fire to knock me down, however, so I only ever get to see their scene after I've been knocked out. With some creative positioning, I was able to get another enemy to knock me down in front of a witch, so I know that they WILL engage you if you're knocked down while you still have some life left, but it would be nice if they could do it on their own.
The metroids are good - enough said.
I like the first boss' animation, but his CG doesn't fit with what was just happening...
The succubus scene had plenty of potential, but there isn't enough going on. At first, I thought/hoped that it was going to be a corruption scene - there was a nice glow effect, the succubus is obviously working some sort of magic... but then Kuro just cums and it starts over...
I think that if you ever decided to provide a version update that's more than just some bug-fixing, you could probably do away with CON as a stat. The life gain that you get from leveling up is enough, and the points that would be put into CON would be much better spent anywhere else. The few +1 CON upgrades in the game could probably just as easily be +5 HEALTH if you didn't want them to be other types of upgrades.
On a final note... How much encouragement would it take for you to add some dialogue/story to the game? If it's an issue of you're sick of working on Kurovadis and you desperately want to begin a bigger/better project, totally understood, and go for it! On the other hand, if it's an issue of you don't want to put more work into the game without getting something for it, how much of a donation would you need..?
really nice game, just a suggestion, maybe add a gallery for the sprite rape animations or the cgs, or both for completing the game, or something like that. but even without a gallery this game is truly amazing
Just a couple of minor notes - more for future reference than anything, since it's probably not worth the effort it would take to rework at this point.
1. The defense stat can work a little too well. What I mean is, while getting DEF up can help you immensely on some of the later levels, it turns Kuro into somewhat of an unstoppable juggernaut for the regular enemies. Basically the only thing aside from bosses that can do more than 1 damage to her are traps and grab attacks. This makes it very difficult to get some of the game over scenes without starting from scratch, and potentially makes the last area way too easy if someone grinds up defense in order to beat the succubus, for instance. Maybe cap the damage reduction at 20% of what mobs would normally hit for at DEF 0 in future games.
2. The knockback when Kuro is hit hard enough is over the top. It makes it very difficult to trigger the H attacks on certain enemies like the raptors because Kuro tends to fly off whatever platform they were standing no matter how far from the edge she is. Not sure if you intended her to do that in order to punish players who get hit during platforming, but if not, maybe tone it down a notch?
1. Obstacles don't really seem to be affected by defense. Just sit on one until you get to a reasonable low, then find your enemy.
2. You don't need the enemies to knock you down to get the H attacks. Pressing the H button automatically knocks Kuro down. And without the knockback. You can even run and press the H button, which leads to her being knocked down while carrying the forward momentum.
2. Did not know this. I still think it's iffy design, however, to give enemies H attacks then make it near impossible for them to use them unless you deliberately and very carefully position your character in such a way to get caught. Ground based enemies are sparse enough as it is.
Neato stuff this is, and I don't even play H-games for the H. Did I miss something though, or is this vine-y doctor fight all about poking him with 1-damage hits until he dies?
Haven't even tried the demo, so i can't say much about the game... but i have just one question about paypal, have you had any problems with it? i mean, for what i know, paypal has a problem with mature content and from waht i read they ban accounts recieving money from these products, are they ok whit that now? or are you undercover?
No, they don't deal with adult services. Thus why there is no adult content on the page where I use paypal's services, nor are there links to any.
So I suppose you could call it undercover, yes. However it's no different from buying points on DLsite, and using those to buy adult games, so I don't think a roundabout method such as this is uncommon.
And no, I haven't had any problems. We'll see, though.
Mediafire download link seems to not be working. It keeps saying "Having problems processing your request." Just an FYI if anyone else is having the same issue. Happening at 4:30 CST 4/4/2012.
Ok, finished at "easy" level... since my platformer muscles were long atrofied, it has been a hell! :D I'll try soon at "normal" level but here is my opinion: damn good game! Bad H-games are played only to lose and see the rape scenes, good H-games are played to win! And I tried to win at any cost!! Nice gameplay, nice music, a good balance, nice H.
Some things I'd like to see in your next game: 1) voice acting again. As I thought it was a nice addition. 2) damage on all sex attacks... or some kind of penalization. While it is somewhat the "fun" part in this kind of games, it is more fun if you have to struggle for it, knowing that "letting go" means defeat. It could be interesting a double meter (the classic "Hit Points - Sex Points", once you've filled the "SP" bar you lose a chunk of "HP"). 3) a "coup de grace" rape animation. When the protagonist is KOed, the rape animation changes. This could also substitute or help to reduce the Game Over pictures... obviously I do not know what option needs more time, so you decide. 4) a unlockable "area selection" system. Once reached an area you can decide to return there later to see if you forgot anything.
Well, it was worth every penny spent and I hope that the sales are going well. Keep us informed.
Definitely worth the five dollars. It's been a long time since I played a good quality platformer game. I liked the controls a lot, it didn't lag or stutter. Character movement was precise which meant I could jump across that pit of tentacles or spikes in one go. The only problem I felt was the delay of jumping right after jump rolling. After you land from jump rolling, you could roll earlier than you can jump. This made consecutive jump rolling require more strict timing, but it wasn't something that couldn't be covered with practice. I do agree with most people, I wish there were a map as I did get lost once. Settings would have helped, I really would've liked to change the key settings for the keyboard. Another big thing was that the game came with no set of instructions at all. This is fine and all for everyone who have been following the game since day 0, but for people like me played the game when they bought it, it can throw you off a bit in the beginning (although the learning curve wasn't bad). I mean, I didn't even know you could down smash until I got to the boss. *Spoiler* And even then I couldn't have figured it out if it wasn't for the falling pillars.
But still, I liked the game very much so. The adult part of it was just a plus, I think if you added more platformer elements in the time it took for the adult elements(GOR CG's, rape animation sprites), it'll still stand as a solid platformer worth the price.
I guess I stink at these kinds of games. Is there a walkthru? Because, I can't seem to find the wall jump "thingy" anywhere. Maybe I ran past it and did not notice it? I have three different save points available to me. I can't get past the vines and every other path ends in a spot where a wall jump is needed.
Very good work hope to see more from you. just one question on your next game are you planning to keep graphics the same or going higher for example(nano crisis, hounds blade) or are you gonna go more cutesy like (witch craft) just curious you are of the top developers that i am keeping up with now.
First thank you for reply i like your dedication to your followers. Second you are going with (ragnorok) look next game nice. That is going to give your more open h scenes with out having a cut scene cause of the character detail. If you keep same difficulty as this one be good going harder would not be a bad thing either. I my self am delving into 2d game making but i using (game maker 8.1)LITE. What program do you like most cause others like game (witch craft ) are to unstable. Other than auto zoom and freeze when i go crazy with commands it is very smooth. I will be keeping an eye on your work and will donate when i can.
Just finished the game, friggin' loved it. Especially the music. Even more the boss music. I pumped so much defense I guess the game got a bit too easy (Final Boss was doing 3ish? Dmg).
Only one thing bothered me, some attacks, like the green spit from the bigger zombies would send me flying backwards if hitted while starting even a normal jump.
Even loved more that there was a hidden weapon. Pewpewpew.
Only place that was like murder when u go in fresh is the room with 10 spiders u jump off and then you are like of my god. lol best way to kill is a few charge blast with lazer the pick off rest good luck all who play .
Actually if you just stick close to the ground and just roll back and forth you can pretty much kill them all with the rolling damage alone without even touching the attack buttons. Since it takes a while for their webs to land where they're aiming at, you can easily get out of the way with some careful timing just by staying low.
What would have been cool is if they had some sort of lunging grab attack if you got in too close, being spiders and all.
Bought this game, played it and liked it. However, I'd like to say some things and I guess some people will hate me for it.
I consider $5 a "fair" price. "fair" as in "it's definitely worth 5 bucks" but also fair as in "I'm kind of glad that I didn't pay more" - because there are some points that seem wrong.
For the record: I played it on "normal" difficulty and it took me about two or three hours to finish. I gotta admit that I sometimes lost on purpose and sometimes grinded for HP capsules (which resulted in higher levels and more stats).
- That is my first con: In my opinion, that is very short. "Fair short" for $5 but too short for more. Some later areas seem almost rushed (the three door system looks like it was going to use more area before the enemys). You basically get the laser as a present (without any significant boss fight before it). - For a metroidvania, everything is much too linear. Almost every possible branch terminates shortly after. There are only two points which can be gotten to via different ways: The first one (Haunted House) doesn't count as one of the paths is one-way (the spike fall). The other one was the way to the Attack Roll (which I got via the lower path first. I was fairly surprised that the upper path lead to it, too).
* I just cannot understand how people get lost in this game. Admittedly, the Haunted House gets a bit "mazey", but I'm very bad with game maps (and orientation in general) and still, the path to the succubus was fairly obvious to me. Some people whine about no ingame-map. If you get lost so much in this game, Why don't you map on paper, then? Has this become a forgotten, ancient and "uncool" art? * Also, the difficulty: Some people whine that the game is too easy. I gotta admit that once you get the controls down, some things are much easier and you become familiar with the enemies' attack patterns. Also you do more damage and they damage you less. This is a general problem with the Level-Up-approach: People expect the heroine to get stronger on levelling and the game getting easier with it. They want a reward for level-grinding. It's very satisfying to stand up to an enemy that was too strong before and defeat it once you've got a new level. I remember "Eternal Daughter": Three hearts, each enemy dealt one heart damage; you get a life up (very limited in this game) and the next area enemies do 1.5 (or even two) hearts damage. *that* was frustrating, as HP-up was no real reward. In Kurovadis, levelling is rewarding but this also means that the line between "enemys too hard" and "enemys too easy" is very thin. I guess, I did too much grinding. As said: When low on HP, I switched between screens and killed easy enemys in hope for HP capsules which raised experience. Also, when encountering an enemy that raised exp by 11% or even 8% next to a save pod, I took the chance. I wasn't able to defeat the final boss on first try. I re-travelled the map and gained one or two more levels and then I was able to defeat the boss - this was fun! Note that you still need to be careful (or skilled) because even an enemy shot doing only 1 damage can send you flying down a puzzle that took time to get up. Also note that some traps do damage depending on your max life so levelling won't help you with them.
(continued as the blog has a char limit) Considering the damage difficulty: You can fine-tune your difficulty by editing lines 23 and 24 of your save file. Line 24 manipulates how much enemies damage you (Normal: 1, Easy: 0.8, VeryEasy 0.7). Setting it to 0.10 made my Kuro only lose 1 life on enemy contact. Setting it higher makes the game much more challenging! Line 23 manipulates how much damage you do on enemies (Normal&Easy: 1, VeryEasy 1.5). Increase it further to have less problems with enemies. -1 results in enemies taking no damage. More negative values seem to regenerate. The game becomes very different once you cannot kill enemies any more (you can still drive them to suicide on spikes) and each of their hit kills you. Although - to be fair - you should do at least some damage to bosses.
* Some people whine that the game is too hard: Too many pixel-perfect jumps needed, areas with rotating wheels, necessary wall-jump-rolls while being shot from off-screen enemys. This is not hard! This is challenging! This is the fun part! Again: Acing such an area is very rewarding in itself and I found them to be pretty okay. Perhaps it's me being old again but once you play some older Nintendo games, you learn that not every game is a simple walk in the park.
- Either I played too bad to find them, or I explored so throughly that I encountered anything that might be called "secret" without noticing.. or there are no real secrets in this game. The closest thing to a secret was one power-up that required you to jump up left although the main path continued to the right. In the alien zone there was a small room that could only be accessed by using a metroid as elevator - but there was nothing in it - no reward for finding it. I really wished there had been fake walls, rooms that require out-of-box-thinking to reach and such things. I thing, they kind of belong to a metroidvania.
- There's nothing after you finish the final boss. You don't get a CG room. You don't get easy access to rooms with each enemy. You can't re-battle bosses. The game is over, nothing left to see, please move on. Of course, you could screen-capture all the CGs for later viewings. You could make a map on how to easily reach certain enemys. You could keep saves which are right before bosses. Still, I'd prefer if there was something directly in the game. Note: You can re-battle bosses by editing the savegame. Lines 15 (Fire) and 17 (Ice) keep whether you got the weapon - and indirectly whether you already fought the boss. Change them to zero to fight again. You can also do this with the slime locks altough this fight wasn't as interesting. Remember to also decrease your defense for this fights to be any fun. Also remember that the 'h'-key still works, so you can drop down before an enemy to see his raping animation.
So: Thanks to Kyieru for making the save format puclic. One can really try out some fun stuff by editing it.
- CG pictures. On the one hand, there's not enough. Normally, I'd expect one for each enemy, so ten for the whole game just is sparse. I do understand that CG takes a lot of time. On the other hand, those CG images just don't fit the heroine in my mind. This may be caused be the very small sprite (you have to use your phantasy a lot) but it just seems strange that the girl from the game should be the same one as in the CGs. I agree with another poster that a finishing H-attack might have been nicer than some CGs. - While I'm on the sprites topic: I think the final sprite looks like her head was cropped from another sprite and put onto some robot body - or at least mechasuit. This might correspond to the background story of her fighting the virus and being physically improved by the army but stil, the sprite looks off.
- no rape damage: I still think that this was a wrong decision. In game terms, being on the ground and not escaping should be penalized. The reason that the pink teeth-creatures are so scary is because it takes a lot out of your HP if you're not quick. Same for metroids and the ghouls. Most other enemies are a lot less scary because "what's the worst thing to happen? You can relax and breathe for a moment, struggle free and then try again. It's not as if you lost something." This is especially true for later in the game when their regular attacks don't damage you much anymore. Being raped should be something to be avoided and not a kind of breather-moment. You can even use the 'h'-key to easily get pass enemies. Hell, even the bosses don't know what to do with you if you're "down" in their fight.
* The witches bug: I have experienced it too - although at first I didn't know what caused it. It seems like the "grown a penis"-state is not reset after continuing. When having enough HP that the penis-grow doesn't kill you, you can escape from their grab and see that movement is strange. You cannot directly run, but you can switch looking direction and jump and roll. Sometimes even walking/running works but only until you stop once. Of course, normally you would never set condition so high to survive this attack but after continue, this effect should be gone.
- Power-up-System: It seems like there is a very simple formula to get through the game: Put two to Charge. It really speeds up charging to a point that you can fire charged shots like always (to have charged shots on quickfire, you need way to much points there - and it's not worth it). Afterwards, Attack and Defense are the stats to go for - more to attack because later you're better with dodging attacks and don't need it that much anymore. I agree that this system is rather broken and makes the game much easier than it needs to be. A simple fix might be having later points put into stats being more expensive (1-5 each needs 1 point, 5-10 each needs 2 points, for increasing a single pointer after 20, you have to commit all your upgrade points there)
Please don't get me wrong. I love this game, I love playing with the catgirls (attack rolls), I love how the roll adds tempo to the game and allows for interesting stunts, I like the animations and I really think that those were $5 wisely spent. But I really think that the 5 buck price was one of the best decisions. It keeps a lot of people from pirating the game - and it also keeps people from being angry after spending "too much" money on it.
I really hope that this game makes enough money for you to work on the next game. You've deserved it!
I bought the game, just reached the succubus, and enjoyed a lot so far. Very refined, I love how the control is so simple and yet the game forces you to use your skills so throughly; I keep running into things that seem impossible until I remember to use a certain skill... I love that. A couple of very humble suggestions:
- The cursor should start on the "continue" option in the menu. When I get killed, I keep going "Return" to skip the death animation, "Return" again to skip the cgi, "Return" oh bollocks why would I want to start a new game? - On the same vein, it would be awesome if continues retained the selected weapon. Not to invalidate current saves, this could be implemented with an if - if the parameter "weapon" exists, set weapon to 1-4 upon load, otherwise assume "1" for standard weapon (as it does today).
Another matter: promotion. I think it would help a lot if you featured a few screenshots of the game in the blog. I opened this site while browsing a forum, together with 3-4 othe links. I skipped it the first 1-2 times I opened it because I couldn't figure out what the game was about in the first 3-4 seconds. I think it would be important.
Can someone please tell me if i have the right version? I downloaded the demo then bought the game and got a text file "unlock". After putting it I played the game and now I'm stuck in here http://sadpanda.us/images/905712-UQRE4MW.jpg
Bought the game, put the unlock text in the folder, but those two "DEMO" blocks near the very beginning of the game are still there. What gives? I can't get over there.
I had Kuro v1. and I downloaded the Demo V6 and placed the unlock in there. I Added my save file from the original V1 into V6 but I would hear a dying voice and it kicks me out of the game upon pressing continue. I have a save right before the Final Boss, and Right before the Succubus. Am I doing something wrong?
I don't play h-games for a challenge. Very Easy didn't feel aptly named; mainly for some reason the control didn't fit my brain well, alot of jumping when I meant to shoot and fingers defaulting to zxc instead of xcv.
Anyone got any luck running this with WINE? The demo worked well enough and I enjoyed what I played, it seems to run a slower than it should, and there was no sound, but otherwise everything worked out of the box. I would buy the game if anyone can confirm that the full game works equally well with WINE.
I have to say that this game has given me the biggest amount of buyer's remorse I have ever experienced. Why do you think you can charge people for a game with bugs everywhere, bad hitboxes and intentionally difficult gameplay where the bugs really come out to shine making the game frustrating? The animations are all really smooth and nice but when it comes to the sex scenes, they're all very small and it is hard to actually realize what exactly is happening at times. From the 20 minutes I've been playing this, this game likes to make the player learn by slapping them in the face the first time and there would be NO way to be able to avoid it the first time. This wouldn't be a big problem if it didn't completely destroy the flow of the game when you have to mash to get up after getting hit rolling for the hundredth time or when you have to mash to get away from an enemy and often times, you'll still be mashing after you have already broken out making your scenario worse. The game is brutal because it isn't ready to be released much less paid for and it's just bad development.
I understand there are also different difficulties but a harder difficulty doesn't give the developer the right to frustrate the player. (if easy takes out all the things I found frustrating in normal) I won't be purchasing anymore of this developer's games.
Bad hit boxes: No. Mashing after escaping: Yes it's an issue. Scenarios there are no way to avoid the first time: Give me an example. Otherwise it sounds like you just found the game too hard.
That aside, look at commercial developers. They have professional backgrounds, hundreds of QA, thousands of dollars in funding, years of development, and yet games are still rushed out and fixed with patches gradually and sold at a $50 price tag, sometimes taking months to fix major issues (others are never fixed). My case is hardly an extreme one.
As for the game itself, Kurovadis was far from being an extremely buggy game. If you want to play an actual unpolished, buggy mess, go play some of the demo's of other action games on DLsite. I think you'll see why people are willing to forgive my game for minor flaws and pay $5 to support further development, and continued improvement on my part.
If you want a refund, email me your receipt and I'll refund you.
Don't be bothered by people like this. These kinds of people don't ever understand the value of what you have done. I appreciate what you did and I say you did a very great job with the gameplay, the H and the Music. The Game all around. Also - Don't give people money back just because they're bitchin' :) It was his/her decision to buy and if he/she is unsatisfied then that's his/her problem... (not to mention that most of the things he/she's bitchin' about don't even exist as solid problems in Kurivadis). Alltogether - You have made a great game and it's worth even more then the 5 bucks I paid for it. Don't let people like that get to you and keep up your great work :)
When I originally left a comment I seem to have clicked on the -Notify me when new comments are added- checkbox and from now on whenever a comment is added I get 4 emails with the same comment. Is there an easy method you can remove me from that service? Many thanks! my site: weight loss clinics
I tried to click "buy", but it sent me to a "Error Detected" page in Paypal
ReplyDeleteNever mind, had to sign in ahead of time. Silly me
DeleteOpera gives a error, firefox work fine
ReplyDeleteA note to any who get my problem with a "Return to this page once the game has been released" page. Make sure you add the "b" like he says in the description.
ReplyDeleteYES!!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm pumped! no sleeping tonight
Nice job, man. You made it. Most indie developers never make it to this stage. My five bucks are dropped.
DeleteA note for anyone with wierd sound problems: make sure your sound isn't set to studio quality on Windows 7 or whatever, as I noticed it broke up at the start of the game because I had it way up like that.
Hey anon, how do you fix that? i have a sound problem too, it sounds very buggy
DeleteLate as fuck, but maybe this will help someone else.
DeleteGo to Control Panel.
I just sent payment *eagerly downloads*
ReplyDeleteI wish you luck in avoiding any jerks who either upload a copy for sharing or give out where the download is. always going to be some *** who feels it's fine cause he doesn't want to pay money.
Great, finally this is on sale, I'll buy it at once!
ReplyDeleteYou might want to make a bug report page, or if you are done make a statement saying you don't want bug reports.
ReplyDeleteAnyways, loving the game!
ReplyDeleteDamniiiiit, my credit card wouldn't work : (!!!
ReplyDeleteA part of me wants to see a "Total Sales" thingie, so that I can bounce for joy if you make enough to make a much better, high quality game.
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteMmm, will buy this once morning comes. I don't want to root all around my house for my credit card at 2 a.m., see.
ReplyDeleteCongrats and well done, Kyrieru. ^_^
Bought it ^_^!!
ReplyDeletePaid and DL'ing now! Can't wait to see how it all turned out!
ReplyDeleteI have to say though... it threw me for a loop when the false download screen said to return once the game was released! You might want to make a note on your download instructions about ignoring that part ;)
I 2nd that!
DeleteLol sorry. I admit that it's a bit confusing.
Deletepaid aand downloading. very pleased by the paypal option without dlsites ripoff included :P
ReplyDeletei assume this one on the blog doesnt have the dlsite cencor included?
No censors via the blog download.
Deleteanother 5 bucks here
ReplyDeleteMy apprehensions about the relative ease of the first area are completely relieved... the next section is TOUGH!
ReplyDeleteI've got a question about Kuro's eyes. They're normally blue, but they turn red during gameover CGs. I know you don't have a story per se, but is the change in eye-color supposed to indicate that she's been infected, mind-fucked, broken, etc.? I'm assuming that's the case - my I'm just curious if you have an "official" answer?
Yes, that's what it is.
DeleteWell glad to see and hear things are finally a go. Actually look forward to hearing how close you are already to your goal. Haha.
ReplyDeleteBought and downloading as I speak. I don't remember the last time I felt this good paying someone five bucks. Hope things work out for you, and then some.
ReplyDeleteAlright, encountered the first bug, rather heavy one.
ReplyDeleteThe third stage, the one where dragons appear, if you save on the first checkpoint, you won't be able to load from there.
DeleteAnonymous above there, here. Found a fix to this. Just put my savefile to another folder, deleted Kurovadis and unpacked it anew from the .rar which I luckily saved. Put the savefile in there and it works.
DeleteOk, now it worked for some reason, seems to be a bit random when it happens.
ReplyDeleteFound a bug at Succubus boss. If get hit with the heart and the succubus comes to kiss you while you're in the state caused by it, if you don't die from the kissing the succubus animation switches to a soldier "finishing" animation and then the soldier-turned-succubus disappears.
ReplyDeleteGah, I missed that. Thanks.
DeleteJust finished playing through... and it was great!
ReplyDeleteSome sections were very tricky, and required a fair amount of level grinding to survive.
From what I've played so far, I definitely would love a sequel made after his next project. It's quite fun.
DeleteJust bought it and downloading it as we speak. Congrats on getting it finished~ Looking forward to more!
ReplyDeleteDownloading it right now, 5$ isn't much especially for europeans like me. I hope that you will enough funds to be able to work on Crimson Blue as much as you want.
ReplyDeleteDefinitively worth those 5$
ReplyDeleteThough found a bug with the succubus boss, if one of her kisses lands, and you just let her kiss you, after a while (until normal enemies reach climax) She turns into a soilder and climaxes, after that she just dissapears and I'm stuck with the boss life and music, but nothing to do :(
I fixed it. I'm re-uploading it now.
DeleteThanks for the hard work! I just bought the game myself. Is there going to be a CG viewing room?
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately no. However that will be a feature I'll be putting into future games.
DeleteHmm, strange... where'd the rest of your blog go? Looks like it poofed.
ReplyDeletePurchased, downloaded, and hell, may even donate some extra to ya!
ReplyDeleteHonestly, for me the H-scenes and the like are actually secondary for supporting you and this game. The quality of the game shows that you have great potential as a game maker. I've bought games from Steam that have horrible laggy and stiff controls, yet you have done an amazing job in that category. I shall look forward towards all your future projects! =)
I find playing the game more fun than the H-scenes. Those seem like just a bonus. It's a really fun game.
DeleteThank you very much!!!
ReplyDeleteWow! That area after getting the rolling attack is brutal! Am I missing one somewhere or am I supposed to go through over a dozen rooms of difficult-to-near-impossible to dodge traps and monsters without a checkpoint in sight?
ReplyDeleteOh well, guess I'll have to come back when I have a bit more time to play and just bash my way through after levelling 10-20 times. So far so good, though. Still a tad heavy on platforming for my taste but hey, more monsters, so I'm good.
in the cave-like area, there's a save point to the left.
DeleteOh dear... no keymapping, so... rolling is still my greatest nemesis. To the point that I'm dying to easy platforming. =_=
ReplyDeleteAlso, a few monsters have... odd death animations. The big tentaguys just explode, and the gargoyle like guys with the spear die with mantis death...
Still, outside of the frustration with rolling, it's pretty fun.
Was waiting for someone to notice the death animation lol.
DeleteAs for the rolling, if you're using a joypad, you can use JoyToKey to switch it to the Dpad.
DeleteAlso, this was odd... and I couldn't replicate it, but...
DeleteAlso you may have to make sure your MotionJoy is up to date.
Is that so? I'll have to check it out the next time I play the game... which will be when my freeloading company who came over the other day leaves... =_=
DeleteStill, I'll be sure to try it out. Thanks for the tip!
Two things:
ReplyDeleteFirstly, the area with the little trampoline thingies on the ground in the starting caves (through a vine) used to lead to a +stat... thing, in the demo. Now there's nothing there.
Secondly, pat yourself on the back for this game.
Bought a copy. The spritework is pretty good, although the game is pretty difficult on Normal for me... but maybe I'm just terrible at platformers. And I keep being off by a key, so I shoot when I meant to jump, but maybe that's just because I'm used to my fingers being a key over.
ReplyDeleteI've only gotten the normal CG game over so far, and just got the Roll upgrade. The spritework alone is worth the $5. I do notice that the character isn't damage if she's raped though? Only that big old penis-like monster (which totally caught me offguard) seems to hurt her. Everything else will rape her, but she'll take no damage. Bug?
No, it's not a bug. I simply decided that it would probably be better if it did no damage.
DeleteThe only enemies that do damage are the ones that use it as a primary means of attacking.
Ah alright, I was just curious. Is there anywhere you can find out what each stat does?
DeleteAtk = attack
DeleteDef = defence
Con = health
Chg = charge speed for guns and your charge punch.
It doesn't tell you anywhere in the game.
It doesn't tell you, but if you know anything about gaming it SHOULD be obvious... >_>
DeleteWell the first two were fairly obvious... I wasn't 100% certain on CON or CHG. In hindsight though...
DeleteCONstitution - main health stat from D&D (higher the con, higher the HP modifier).
DeleteCharge. Come on, CHG looks like an abbreviated charge... just think a little. :/
FOAD
DeleteI bought it!
ReplyDeleteI'll cheer for you
Found a bug. If you get killed by the witches who give our heroine a penis, then hit Continue from the main menu, our heroine stops being able to walk horizontally. You can move horizontally, if you jump first, but if you're standing still, then she'll start running more-or-less in place.
ReplyDeleteHm, I tried it but it didn't happen. Can you replicate it every time?
DeleteYep. My particular download is labeled "V1", just in case you already fixed it.
DeleteI too came across this randomly, wasn't able to duplicate. Just exited and reloaded.
DeleteSame here.
DeleteWhen you lose to the witches and then continue, the heroine does not move correctly. It happens 100% of the times on my Kuro V3.
I'm running it on a Windows 7 laptop using the keyboard as control
Bought, downloading!
ReplyDeleteHuzzah!
Level select feature once you finished the game woulda been nice, but oh well. I didn't think at the time to backup my saves as I went.
DeleteRegardless, wonderful game, awesome music. Do it again!
Bought and in download.
ReplyDeleteI Believed that 5$ where a fair price for the demo so I've added a donation as a little token of my gratitude for your dedication.
Keep up the good work!
Also is it just me, or intentional, that the player character reminds me of Curly?
ReplyDeleteWho is that?
DeleteAh, just coincidence then. Curly is a character from Cave Story, I thought of her because she has the same little head... things. Then again, they make me think of female CAST accessories too...
DeleteOh boy. You should know Cave Story, Kyrieru, if you're making metroidvanias. You need to check it out. It's free.
DeleteWell, first things first - this game fucking rocks.
ReplyDeleteBut it needs a map. Try as I might, I cannot find the last red wall... thing. ANYWHERE. Is it on the same side as the other 2? or is it completely different? I'm so frustrated. I've been stuck like this for like an hour.
Turn right here
Deletehttp://gyazo.com/d0da1a6129227efecc2b6cb382b59c39.png?1333475392
Or go left here
http://gyazo.com/f196d01958ded2a1f9d852c8f3a2246c.png?1333475335
I agree, if there's any way you can include a map, it would be appreciated. In addition the stat thing seems to be missing at the very beginning behind the two blocks.
DeleteIt's not that it's missing, it's jut that you already got it...somewhere else. I put the same powerup in two places by mistake. That's what causes any of the glitches surrounding them.
DeleteI'm fixing it at the moment.
Aah! Awesome! I was like "I swear I found it once... The left turn is up top right? with the chain fence behind the dragon?
ReplyDeleteYes, it's up top.
DeleteNo CGs for slime mobs?
ReplyDeleteYes, I would like to know as well if there are cg's for all the enemies. Sometimes I get the normal Game over, and other times I get a special cg for the enemy.
DeleteThere 10 CGs in total. 3 for each area and one common CG.
DeleteArea? so to see them all we'll have to trial and error the enemies in the area for their specific cg?
DeleteNot complaining, just curious. Could you provide a list? Understand if not.
http://www.ulmf.org/bbs/showthread.php?p=338509#post338509
DeleteScroll down, someone lists them all.
This is boredbirdy from ulmf. Reporting one purchase and one download... Congrats on finishing this!
ReplyDeleteSo I beat the game. I gotta say that was definitely money well spent. It had a nice difficult curve from oh this is a piece of cake to damn fucking monster/trap. However the gameplay was still solid and fun enough to prevent me from rage quitting. (especially at the end boss)
ReplyDeleteLevel designs was tight reminded me of the harder megaman levels except with out the insta-kill spikes and drops.
How do we download updates/fixes?
ReplyDeleteDownload the game from the same link again.
DeleteBut that would ultimately make a problem if you don't have access to that link anymore. In order to get the download you need to buy it through paypal, then you get a link which you must add the letter B to. Now if we don't bookmark that link/remember it we must buy the game again in order to get access to it.
DeleteThough of any solutions to this? or should we just buy the game again if me forget the link? :P
Then you just send an email to the address where you bough the game, and I'd just send you the link.
DeleteBought it and it is a really good game. So good that I feel bad in a way because I can't tell a lot of people about it due to the type of game it ultimately is. I encourage everyone that is able to buy this game and/or donate. There are so few people that can and make these type of games to such a high degree of quality.
ReplyDeleteI sincerely hope that the sales go as well as you hope (and then some) and are able to make more games. H Game or non H I will be buying whatever you make in the future.
Well, I've played up till mid 2nd level, and all I can say is: you sold this for 5 dollars?
ReplyDeleteYou're crazy. This is way and above better than nearly all dlsite content, of its type or otherwise. You seriously are underselling.
Well, many games on DLsite are about $18, meaning that the author gets about 10-11.
DeleteThe next game I do will sell for a similar amount, and will be much higher quality than Kurovadis, so I can't charge the same amount for it.
Bought the game too, and I must say I'm very satisfied with my purchase. Aside the H content this game is really solid, gameplay wise and everything.
DeleteCan't wait to see more from you in the future
IMO, even without the H content, the game seems like at least a $10 game to me. It's a lot of fun, you did a very good job. Pat yourself on the back, Kyrieru!
DeleteHey I was wondering if you could put out a gallery with the CGs and the pixel animations. Maybe when you beat the game. Also wanted to add that this product was worth the 5 bucks. I am really interested to see what you do with more time.
ReplyDeleteThere won't be a gallery. In terms of features, the game isn't going to be changed beyond bug fixes.
DeleteThat is is a feature that will be included in future games, however.
I'm not running into a huge number of bugs, except for the spider women walking through walls at the last stage. One QoL fix would be to keep your last weapon equipped when loading a save. It sucks to change your weapon every time the boss pwns you.
DeleteGetting that instant red flash + death moan + game shutdown when I try to load my V1 save game in the new V4. Tried saving at different points (in V1). Didn't change anything.
ReplyDeleteAnon from above again. Just tried every single back-up save I had from V1. All have the same result in V4. Flash, moan, shutdown. :c
DeleteIt says on the download page, old saves don't work. I removed the encryption from saves because it was causing problems for some people so unfortunately old saves aren't compatible.
DeleteAs a result though, you can edit save files, so start a new game on your difficulty setting, save in the first save point, and then edit the save file, following this,
http://kyrieru.blogspot.ca/p/kurovadis-save-pattern.html
I'm looking up room numbers, so I'll add that in a bit.
I've added how to change the room number now. Follow the link and you can edit a save to meet your old one.
DeleteWell, damn. Hadn't noticed the text. Didn't it say something about demo saves back when it was V1 for download or is that just me getting old? But in any case, thanks for the editing tips there (and a thumbs up on the game)! :D
DeleteJust bought the game. Have to support quality niche games.
ReplyDeleteStating my lurker support and that I just bought :) can't wait to see more.
ReplyDelete^This.
ReplyDeleteKinda sad to say that having this blog with the progress updates influenced my decision to buy instead of pirate this game.
Now I feel like more developers should do the same for my money; the game itself just isn't enough for me.
Seriously great job on this game. I was also trying to work on my own h game platformer and have been inspired to continue again seeing as how a real developer can make something this well polished and get this many sales (in a short time span). I purchased your game and will enjoy playing it.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your hard work and long nights!
I bought it without hesitation :)
ReplyDeleteAnd i don't regret it ;)
DeleteHi!
ReplyDeleteBought it too! Thank you!
Keep up the good work! =)
Also, can't you make some cover art? I really want to burn this in a disc and put it in my collection lol
Only the front cover would be awesome! I really love your art style.
You going to post a purchase tracker for this so we can see how much we're supporting you?
ReplyDelete(already bought the game)
I missed a boss..??
ReplyDeleteApparently I missed a succubus boss.
DeleteHoly nuts that's compicated. I'll try later thank you Anonymous
DeleteHey, don't know if you remember me. ^_^
ReplyDeleteI suggest all who decide pirate Kurovadis, and feel that Kyrieru has rightfully earned some moneys to go toward the next project with this awesome basket of winsauce, to at some point contribute even if under the table.
Thank you for selling a very good game.
ReplyDeleteIf the target was filled, please tackle work as you like.
I should probably clarify I meant a single wolf-type enemy. Didn't mean a horde of various ones. xD
ReplyDeleteAlso after a half assed to full assed scouring for a full version, my empty cup of coffee beckons me to bed. 'Til Friday, Kurovadis~
Okay, I've now played through most of the game, all that's left is the final boss. Thought I'd give a quick overview of what I thought:
ReplyDeleteThe things I enjoyed the most; Futaizing witches, tempting succubi, getting really good at the platforming, and the final area's music.
Or right, forgot this bug:
DeleteThe bug enemies give a lot more experience then I think they're intended to. They seem to give exp twice, when the finishing blow is dealt and then when they explode. It isn't uncommon to get 5-7 exp for each kill of these very weak enemies.
Didn't read the whole page? For shame! :3
DeleteBut the thing about most enemies' grapples not doing damage is intentional, quote:
"No, it's not a bug. I simply decided that it would probably be better if it did no damage.
The only enemies that do damage are the ones that use it as a primary means of attacking."
This comment has been removed by the author.
DeleteYeah, the flies seem a little broken to me. They also seem to drop a lot more health than other mobs. Not sure if it was intentional to make farming easier on the later levels in case anyone got stuck.
DeleteFrankly, they would have been nice to have in that area just before the succubus boss, which was much much harder to get through without taking loads of damage, as well as for the boss itself.
Right, another bug, this time related to the charge up punch. If you time a roll at just the right time when you unleash your charged punch, it will hit foes twice.
DeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeletei like to buy your game but i no have the credicard if so please put in banking slip too i will buy you game oh yes i will wait first you finhis to repair the bugs^^
ReplyDeleteKuro's blog doesn't even accept credit card - it takes PayPal, which lets you pay money from your bank account - so... not seeing the problem.
DeleteAs for bugs - I just beat the game and there are almost none to speak of.
I bought it with a CC from the blog...
DeleteI've noticed a bug with the acid spitting grey monkey things (that's about as descriptive as I can go without cussing at them) where their rape animation makes you hover off the ground during it. I'm guessing it's some sort of Z axis bug.
ReplyDeleteHow's that joystick-disabled version coming? I played through the demo but was very frustrated by the controls on my gamepad. I think being able to use joy2key without any conflicts from the default controls will solve all my problems.
ReplyDeleteNew version works great, thanks.
DeleteYou should post a little blurb about the game and that it's released now along with some images on the GoR and Hentai Platformer threads on Hongfire, probably with whatever promo images you're going to put on DLsite. It should help the game increase it's visibility.
ReplyDeleteOk...
ReplyDeleteMaybe giving the possibility to shoot the "homing kisses" down or at least to have them not deal damage would make the encounter less of a "run-left-run-right-jump-changedirectioninmidair-shootthebitch-nonononononono!!!GODDAMN!!!" and a little, you know... more tactical...
Perhaps you could, you know, keep practicing so you get better? Don't cry because it's too hard. Man up so that you're no longer weak!
DeleteOnce you get a pattern going she isn't too bad.
DeleteIf it really bothers you that much, you can edit your save to make your char god mode.
Are the skeletons supposed to have a rape animation? It looks like they try, but can't.
ReplyDeleteThey certainly run at her like they want to bone her, yeah.
Delete"like they want to bone her"
DeleteHa.
So where can I download the OST? The last areas music is pretty neat.
ReplyDeleteMy only complaint is that the wall jump mechanic isn't like Megaman X where you can keep kicking off the walls. It makes the jumping and platforming areas with traps frustratingly hard to get past.
ReplyDeleteI like the challenge. It would make things too easy if you could jump multiple times on the same side.
DeleteI'm not sure if this is a bug, or if I'm missing something, I've got the fire, ice, and laser weapons, and I'm at the last boss (I'm assuming), after I whittle his health down enough, he starts dropping fiery rocks from the ceiling, and I'm suddenly completely unable to damage him with any of my weapons, including charged punches, regardless of where I stand.
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
DeleteI have this exact same problem. I'm thinking you need to get behind his head (using the platforms he drops) and attack him. No idea though. Try the roll attack.
DeleteThis is not a bug. Try giving him (it?) a headache...
DeleteYou can do a downwards smash attack by pressing down+punch. You can do it while jumping but apparently it works even when you're just standing.
DeleteThis move should be a powerup because there's no instructions for this move anywhere.
I kind of found out about it on accident since I'm inclined to press down and forward on my pad. Not to mention it's a bit intuitive if you wanna try hitting someone below you and you don't want to line up next to the guy.
DeleteOnce the final boss is on his last legs, the only way to hurt him is with the ground pound (as far as I know). Punch down to do it, you have the power from the start and I actually played through the demo without knowing about it. After I did, it made the game a lot easier.
ReplyDeleteWell.
ReplyDeleteThat was the most satisfying game I've played in quite a while. Can't wait for the next few!
Quick question - do you make all the music yourself? if so, that's pretty awesome, not gonna lie.
However, i was a little choked that there was no gallery mode, and the lack of Succubus CG made me sad. (Unless there was one, and I missed it)
Another thing, I think you should have a CG for each enemy. It was a little sad seeing the same one seemingly every time I died
DeleteThere was a CG, so you missed it.
DeleteYes I did make all the music.
CGs take a long time -__-
That sucks :( I was actually really looking forward to that one.
DeleteI read your post about them. But they're pretty awesome, maybe not one for EACH enemy, but I think you need more. Maybe just a couple.
Also, I'm impressed by the music! My favorite was the castle.
Mr. Kyrieru would it be possible to have a counter set up as to how close you're to reaching your goal? It would be interesting to see the progress, and I'm sure people would donate more to your future projects if they could see it as well.
ReplyDeleteI would cause you have talent.
Great game btw.
You're awesome! Thank you for a (I'm assuming) fun game. I was able to play the very first demo and the most recent updated demo. The game itself does not run for me. I don't use Windows--I'm running Ubuntu and FreeBSD.
ReplyDeleteFor future games, may I put in a request that for all Windows-based games(prior to Windows 8 that is), that you base the game off of Wine--instead of Windows itself?
Here are some links:
http://www.winehq.org/
http://vorbis.com/
http://www.webmproject.org/
Basing the game on Wine will ensure the widest possible audience because all Windows users(again, prior to 8) will be able to play the game--as well as everyone else running alternative operating systems(ie, Mac, Linux, BSD, Haiku, ReactOS, Amiga...pretty much everything). Wine is used by virtually all operating systems.
Needless to say...if you want to make more money on your games, it pays to reach a much larger audience. I for one would be happy to spread the word.
Thanks again for the game!
Awesome game, just awesome. Can you make a sequel ?
ReplyDeleteI've watched your work for a long time and I am glad to see it come to fruition.
ReplyDeleteI hope my $5.00 helps. I love your stuff and can't wait to see more.
I've now run completely through the game about four times now. I've posted earlier, but here's my thoughts now that it isn't as shiny and new, in no particular order:
ReplyDeleteThis is still a damn awesome game.
I have a question about the PayPal payment. If I pay via PayPal, do you actually see my contact information in your statement?
ReplyDeleteI'm basically trying to figure out if this is any different from eBay transactions via PayPal.
Cheers,
-Keno
really nice game, just a suggestion, maybe add a gallery for the sprite rape animations or the cgs, or both for completing the game, or something like that. but even without a gallery this game is truly amazing
ReplyDeleteJust a couple of minor notes - more for future reference than anything, since it's probably not worth the effort it would take to rework at this point.
ReplyDelete1.
Delete2. You don't need the enemies to knock you down to get the H attacks. Pressing the H button automatically knocks Kuro down. And without the knockback. You can even run and press the H button, which leads to her being knocked down while carrying the forward momentum.
1. Yup, I mentioned that already.
Delete2.
ReplyDelete... or I missed something completely obvious and needed to shoot them glow-y glass thingies. Whoops!
DeleteHow many sales until your goal? You should put up a little progress bar.
ReplyDeleteHaven't even tried the demo, so i can't say much about the game... but i have just one question about paypal, have you had any problems with it? i mean, for what i know, paypal has a problem with mature content and from waht i read they ban accounts recieving money from these products, are they ok whit that now? or are you undercover?
ReplyDeleteNo, they don't deal with adult services. Thus why there is no adult content on the page where I use paypal's services, nor are there links to any.
DeleteSo I suppose you could call it undercover, yes. However it's no different from buying points on DLsite, and using those to buy adult games, so I don't think a roundabout method such as this is uncommon.
And no, I haven't had any problems. We'll see, though.
Just bought it. Been itching to play the full thing ever since the first demo.
ReplyDeleteMediafire download link seems to not be working. It keeps saying "Having problems processing your request." Just an FYI if anyone else is having the same issue. Happening at 4:30 CST 4/4/2012.
ReplyDeleteOk, finished at "easy" level... since my platformer muscles were long atrofied, it has been a hell! :D
ReplyDeleteI'll try soon at "normal" level but here is my opinion: damn good game!
Bad H-games are played only to lose and see the rape scenes, good H-games are played to win! And I tried to win at any cost!!
Nice gameplay, nice music, a good balance, nice H.
Some things I'd like to see in your next game:
1) voice acting again.
ReplyDeleteBut still, I liked the game very much so.
ReplyDeleteNever mind everyone, I just figured it out.
ReplyDeleteFor anyone who got stuck like I did...
Not every enemy needs to be killed!
Very good work hope to see more from you. just one question on your next game are you planning to keep graphics the same or going higher for example(nano crisis, hounds blade) or are you gonna go more cutesy like (witch craft) just curious you are of the top developers that i am keeping up with now.
ReplyDeleteGREAT WORK :)
I think the resolution of the sprites will be somewhat like this.
Deletehttp://gyazo.com/e2acfd57a00a3059f601abe7a7296758
I'm trying to find a good balance between facial features and sprite size, at the moment.
DeleteI use game maker 8.1 standard. Mostly just because it's what I know how to use.
DeleteJust finished the game, friggin' loved it. Especially the music. Even more the boss music. I pumped so much defense I guess the game got a bit too easy (Final Boss was doing 3ish? Dmg).
ReplyDeleteOnly one thing bothered me, some attacks, like the green spit from the bigger zombies would send me flying backwards if hitted while starting even a normal jump.
Even loved more that there was a hidden weapon. Pewpewpew.
it is funny cause ive heard that monkeys the slime are hard but if you get lazer u can stand just outside range and kill lol
DeleteOnly place that was like murder when u go in fresh is the room with 10 spiders u jump off and then you are like of my god. lol best way to kill is a few charge blast with lazer the pick off rest good luck all who play .
ReplyDeleteActually if you just stick close to the ground and just roll back and forth you can pretty much kill them all with the rolling damage alone without even touching the attack buttons. Since it takes a while for their webs to land where they're aiming at, you can easily get out of the way with some careful timing just by staying low.
DeleteWhat would have been cool is if they had some sort of lunging grab attack if you got in too close, being spiders and all.
Dl.Site version is translated to Japanese?
ReplyDeleteBought this game, played it and liked it. However, I'd like to say some things and I guess some people will hate me for it.
ReplyDeleteI consider $5 a "fair" price.

ReplyDeleteConsidering the damage difficulty: You can fine-tune your difficulty by editing lines 23 and 24 of your save file.
(and another continue)
ReplyDelete- no rape damage: I still think that this was a wrong decision.
ReplyDeleteA couple of very humble suggestions:
ReplyDeleteIf you're that far, you've unlocked the full game. If you've just defeated the succubus, you go back up the way you came.
DeleteBought the game, put the unlock text in the folder, but those two "DEMO" blocks near the very beginning of the game are still there. What gives? I can't get over there.
ReplyDeleteNevermind. I had an old demo, somehow.
DeleteGame was more fun than a barrel of monkeys!
ReplyDeleteI want a collection of dots and CG.
Seek sequel
I had Kuro v1. and I downloaded the Demo V6 and placed the unlock in there. I Added my save file from the original V1 into V6 but I would hear a dying voice and it kicks me out of the game upon pressing continue. I have a save right before the Final Boss, and Right before the Succubus. Am I doing something wrong?
ReplyDeleteI don't play h-games for a challenge. Very Easy didn't feel aptly named; mainly for some reason the control didn't fit my brain well, alot of jumping when I meant to shoot and fingers defaulting to zxc instead of xcv.
ReplyDeleteAnyone got any luck running this with WINE?
ReplyDeleteThe demo worked well enough and I enjoyed what I played, it seems to run a slower than it should, and there was no sound, but otherwise everything worked out of the box.
I would buy the game if anyone can confirm that the full game works equally well with WINE.
The demo is the full game, when you buy the game you get an unlock file so it should work just as well.
DeleteIf it doesn't work, send me an email and I'll refund your purchase on Paypal.
ReplyDeleteI understand there are also different difficulties but a harder difficulty doesn't give the developer the right to frustrate the player. (if easy takes out all the things I found frustrating in normal) I won't be purchasing anymore of this developer's games.
Bad hit boxes: No.
DeleteMashing after escaping: Yes it's an issue.
DeleteAlltogether - You have made a great game and it's worth even more then the 5 bucks I paid for it. Don't let people like that get to you and keep up your great work :)

Can't play it. When I've started the game, the cursor jumps immediately to "End".
ReplyDeleteI can only exit the game per ESC.
