Basically this is something I'm going to be working on in my free time every now and then as a means of practising drawing and writing. It's going to be a simple visual novel engine with action RPG battles. The battles will be sort of like punch out, but with rpg elements, and magic, and H content
You can try out an example of what I've done so far in the past couple days. It's just an example of what the combat side of things looks like. But there is no actual combat yet.
Press left/right to weave,
Press space to attack (changes with the direction)
+/- and A/D to test the enemy's depth and movement.
On the visual novel side of things, it will consist mostly of quick sketches, of varying quality, with text overlaying most of the screen. The quality of H CGs might be a little higher, though, and I expect the quality to get a bit higher as I go on.
You are a game making machine!
ReplyDeleteLooks and feels awesome. Would be really cool to see you develop this further.
ReplyDeleteCan I ask a question I've been wondering... Will you do a game where the H content is beneficial for the player instead of harmful?
ReplyDeleteThough the general H industry thinks that it is good, losing to obtain something still looks a bit wrong from a gaming point of view. I don't care if the game is has sex battles, if it is a platformer, something like the DQ Monsters series, or like Chaos Legion*...
*It is a Capcom game where your character fights & monsters enhace your character, but you can change your mana bar into the monsters health if you summon them.
I'm not really good at translating to English, so I'm sorry if something sounds too strange or has no sense.
I like this idea quite a bit, actually. It'd be refreshing to see an H game where the H action is a reward for victory, rather than a "punishment" for failure.
DeleteDefeat is an actual fetish that only works if a character is at least partially unwilling. The act does become more of a reward for the player if there's a gallery mode so scenes can be permanently "obtained," not to mention it saves loads of trouble down the road. Once you've beefed up your character, it takes a long time to lose against some enemies just to catch that short glimpse.
DeleteNow, as an actual reward, that brings up several issues surrounding social norms. Advancing a relation with a love interest to get a sex scene would be an example that happens for doing things "right." But it requires loads more time while cutting down on variety. If it's a male main character having sex with 20 different women in crazy ways, he's either surrounded by bimbos or a rapist. If a female main character is intentionally having sex with every beast and monster she comes across, she's unrelatably slutty. Both cases prevent most people from taking the characters, their quest, or their world seriously. That tends to be a flaw outside comedies.
If you know ways to get around that, you should definitely suggest it. The industry can always benefit from more strategies. Otherwise the safest route will always be "Most of these scenes aren't intentional to the characters, but they can happen."

DeleteHaha, didn't read the post above mine before what i said before, need to revise what i said. A woman main lead can have sex a lot without seeming slutty, if done right. The character I've designed so far for my own game is a half android woman that is in stasis for many years after an accident in a lab she was working in on a remote planet. She wakes to find that the A.I. that saved her life has now gone rogue and created monsters, or monster girls for the actual term, in your absence. A part of her data you were researching got mixed together in the accident, and the A.I. had continued the work till it had gone corrupt. That's all for the story at this point, but what I'm saying is that the female lead can have sex often in order to recharge or some such, but only if she initiates, if a monster grabs her, then she is raped as a man would be raped. Best of both worlds, i think.
Deletehmmm.... interesting, very interesting. you could easily make this into a normal battle that turns into OH dear god I'm now being raped in battle. hmmm trying to think there is a number of H RPG that give a few CG with text that show your being raped but its just a few still photos you animate this and even if its just a small/short little game it should be all the rave.
ReplyDeleteWhen I panned the camera up towards the sky, I started thinking it would be funny if the heroine had a dress you could look under. Would this be possible if you added the skirt as a separate "part" to the heroine image?
ReplyDeleteHmm, interesting. This is quite an unusual twist for an Action RPG (Only one like that I know would be Crossed Swords on the NeoGeo), but I think it could become quite good.
ReplyDeleteHonestly, this is pretty amazing and if you managed to make this into a game using the engine I could see buying it and thats without the H-content.
ReplyDeleteI personally never liked visual novels because there is no interactivity aside from "make decisions" for the most part. However, a game like Fate/Extra which has a visual novel style to it's narration and story I love because of the combat system and multiple enemies to fight. If you were to make a visual novel style game with a combat system like the demo you have currently, I'd be totally behind it!
ReplyDeleteYou might have just invented a new engine for all of gaming... (Though I can't be sure it hasn't been used before)
ReplyDeleteI would love to see this fleshed out into a fully functioning game
Seems to have some serious potential.
ReplyDeleteI like dot animation H. HCG is too common and boring. Since you have shown your ability in dot animation already, I think it will be a waste of talent to not utilize it. :)
ReplyDeleteAnd that demo feel really good. IMO a very promising system.
Hmm... weren't going to post as Kyrieru? So you're more than one person? Is this some kind of big conspiracy, are you two-timing on me with that other forum? D:
ReplyDeleteI'm one person, it's just that if I post as Kyrieru, all the preconceptions and expectations come with the name. If I ever make something under a different name, I can be sure that player's reactions aren't effected by other things I've done.
DeleteAhhhhh, makes sense. *nods*
DeleteI pinky swear that I'll avoid having expectations based on your other stuff. :3
And sorry if I was butting in or anything. xP
one of my daily things is to check how kyrieru's work is coming along. good as always i loves kurvados and have played to field on a bunch of other games cant wait till ur new one is out or a demo played effect demo u got up very smooth action. One of the issues i see in aloof games is they night have hentai content but a strategy to play so u can make it is also important.
ReplyDeleteSome other work ive seen im keeping an eye on is Incubus hunter( http://dotaction.blog.fc2.com/) but i think he abandoned his work was a good idea not many diligent ones out there lol.
But the top graphics ive seen so far and best fluid body animations are from- Guild Meister(http://www.dlsite.com/maniax/announc...ct_id/RJ097938) i scrounged around and found full game on net if u interested ill send attachment.
GOOD LUCK and GOOD WORK
That game is pretty nice, but not sure that 4 short levels warranted the $23 pricetag. Perhaps when the creator gets more experience with sidescrollers he'll add more content in the future.
DeleteHey Kyrieru, check out the demo of RJ101211. You got competition!
ReplyDeleteCompetition for those who enjoy horrible disproportionate bodies, I suppose.
DeleteDon't take shots at legitimate art styles, especially not with that icon.
DeleteOh, so making enormous breasts is an "art style" now? I wasn't aware of that. I'm pretty sure that it's just the creator of the game catering to those people who can't even appreciate a normal female body anymore. It's getting ridiculous these days, with female protagonists that have breasts bigger than their heads.
DeleteAlso, "don't take shots at legitimate art styles"? What the hell does that even mean? You're being hypocritical in the first place by criticizing my own style of art, so good job on that count.
Finally, if Kyrieru had actually acknowledged this as legitimate competition, I would feel differently, but as it stands it seems like a strange breast fetish game where the protagonist wears the least armor possible.
Having actually played the game now, against every instinct I have, it's really nothing special at all.
-Environments: The backgrounds are decent, but the level design is repetitive and boring. The actual tiles and platforms look like they were either drawn in MSPaint or poorly compressed JPEG's interchangedly.
-Platforming: Non-existant. The character moves too slowly and there is no real depth to the movement. It's just jump and walk.
-Animations: The cahracter is poorly animated, as you can see the sketch lines between the various frames, and the monster animations are beyond terrible. The actual rape animations are 2 to 3 frame loops with no real depth to them. Game over scene utilizes generic sound effects, cheapening the whole deal.
-Enemies: Stupid as hell, and are all easily defeated with a few swings of the basic attack.
-Music: Ripped off generic music from somewhere. Sounds familiar.
-SFX: Same as any other cheap platformer like Vorpal Rabbit(Which is actually much more fun in my opinion, and not for sale.), they clash with the sounds that were actually made for it.
But anyways, thanks for your input, I appreciate it.
All art styles involve deformation, so yes. That's why "super deformed" is a legitimate style even Kurovadis uses for its sprites. Nobody with an ounce of sense would describe them as "horrible little people with bloated heads," especially when that phrase is better reserved for people like you.
DeleteYou might realize just how smug and petty your words sound with a quick change of the target: "Oh, so making girls who look like they're 13 with enormous eyes is an "art style" now? I wasn't aware of that. I'm pretty sure that it's just the creator of the game catering to those people who can't even appreciate a normal female body anymore. It's getting ridiculous these days, with female protagonists that inflate like balloons."
You're pulling that in a fantasy hentai game forum while drawing crayon scribbles. It's not hypocrisy to point out you own some fine, glass real estate. That was a real class act following it up with pot shots that aren't even related to art, by the way. Since you hang on Kyrieru's every word (including unspoken ones), I'm sure he likes the idea of you trying to start bad blood with other fans. Just to be sure, you're actually old enough to be playing these games, right?
This game looks quite interesting actually even though I don't like marimo games much. I hope he'll use the voices in the CG scenes.
DeleteThe combat, platforming, and the heroine's character design are "meh".
DeleteThat brings up a good question. What is Kuro's character design? I know she's a redhead with ear pieces but all I know about the rest of her getup is it's gray. It would be a lot hotter knowing just what's getting stripped and let us make some fanart. The Japanese reviews are good so you know they would draw it if they had the reference material.
DeleteKyrieru, help us out! Point us at the character designs and sketches we know you have. An idea of how much of her is mechanical would help, too.
Projekt Wolfenstahl! wolf wolf wolf wolf, Wolfenstahl... Ei sexy lady, wolf wolf wolf wolf, Projekt Wolfenstahl!
ReplyDeleteAnyway, I saw Kyrieru talking with the Admin of a hentai site about his Kurovadis uploaded in that site... That was funny haha... It's like Admin vs Admin, woah.
Projekt Wolfenstahl! wolf wolf wolf wolf, Wolfenstahl... Ei sexy lady, wolf wolf wolf wolf, Projekt Wolfenstahl!
Are you still developing the Crimson Brave? It's got potential man.
