Stuff

Someone was asking about Kuro's design, as a few people have in the past. Truth be told, there never really was a definite design. I could never decide. Either way, here's a quick sketch for you, at the very least.

If you recall, the only other real image of her was this. I never actually did any concept art.

Game progress

The current game's progress is going a bit slow at the moment. For some reason I'm just not all that enthusiastic lately. I'm currently working on tilesets and enemies.

Other than that, a few days ago I did a mockup of what the raising sim game might look like. I'm eager to try a style like this sooner or later.

(I have a bad habit of always looking forward to what I'm going to do next, rather than whatever I'm working on....)

Anyhow, that's allll.....back to work...Well, sleep, actually.

  1. Gah, that happens to me all the time. That's why I can never get anything done I start one thing, then I go on the the next, then another, and then the something else. The worst part is that it is so tedious to go back and work on something from the past that was unfinished.

Maybe you should take a week long break or something to refresh your mind like a beer.

  2. Thumbs up to the style in that mockup, yo. :3

Also sorry you're not enthused. Good luck! D:

  3. Kinda how I am with RPG Maker, granted I know its not the same. My story keeps changing and I find myself constantly wanting to start over and make something new and "better". I do love the mock up for the raising sim, honestly don't think we have one of those around at all...unless you count the slave girl raising lol.

  5. Oh, well no wonder you don't feel motivated. You're doing the most boring part now. :P

  6. Awesome pic of Kuro, dood! Also, I can understand your excitement for the next game you have planned, especially since it's a rather unique game. Who knows? Maybe doing work on both will send your motivation between each game so both can get finished at roughly the same time. Sure it'll take longer that way, but it's better than trying to force yourself to sitting down and doing one game to the point where you don't feel any motivation to complete it, ya know? Either way, keep up the amazing work! =)

I see where you are standing
I want to help with your work or motivate you so that you can concentrate on working, coz I do love your games!!
but it's all up to you.
plz keep it up with your own pace:)

  10. I love the way Kuro looks! She looks bad-ass and cute/beautiful at the same time! Very impressive :)

But anyways, like the others keep telling you; take the development of the games in moderation. Work on a little of each at a time on what you feel like to keep from getting overwhelmed. No need to worry about us. If being a video gamer has taught me anything besides reflexes and coordination, it's patience ;)

  14. Pirated your game V4 played till first boss and then Donated straight away. And i never pay for games.
Amazing game like they say, the physics, the difficulty, music, everything pixel perfect. Grew up with Snes and think the NES was the best console ever, they dont make games like these any more, let alone one as unique as this, dude its pixel sex.

it hits the spot I'd describe as "i'm kinda want to see H but not really and want to play a decently challenging old school game feeling" a pleasure I never knew existed.

I downloaded V7 is it sowed down?

    here are my suggestions
1.a control pad setting option, don't really like the layout, also allow multiple bindings.

    2. graphics are not tack sharp when stretched on wide screen displays, maybe a screen setting to lock it to the 4:3 ratio full screen?

    3. I know I'm barely through this one game but do sequel and prequels plz. I want it to hit kurovadis X6

4.if u can port this to smart phones it would make a killing.

    Do not stop making games.

    1. 1. Haven't figured out how to do this yet. Though the next game allows you to customize the keyboard.

2.There will be similar options in all future games.

      4. Kurovadis and smartphone controls would...not go well together..

Did you say that V7 seems slower?

    2. Well I heard that Android phones can connect to PS3 controllers...but still, such a small subset of people will bother with that so it really isn't worth it.

    3. Pretty much.

Though if I ever make a game that's based more around pointing and clicking, then it would be an option.

  15. I see, thanks for taking the time to respond.
as for smart phones I do hate playing games on them, but that has not stop people from trying.
hm V7 seems fine now. not sure why i got slow down before.
just curious what country are you based?

  16. I personally don't see the need for concept art, its not like your part of a team and it takes time to actually come up with concept art. Unless your treading into unknown waters and want to see an idea on paper its much faster to just start working on the main concept.

  17. That's an awesome art of Kuro. :D
Also, did you compose the music for Kurovadis by yourself? Your game is amazing in every point but what I liked most was the soundtrack. That's some nice stuff there.

  18. hey kyrieru, do you have any advice for someone who wants to learn drawing? should i beginn with drawing with pencil or photoshop ect?

    1. It really depends on who you are to be honest...
I'm better with making up/getting lineart, then doing the rest in Photoshop, but some people make amazing are all in the program, or all on paper; I'm starting to get better at the first, but you should experiment and see what works for you!

  19. Have You finished the monster design?

    Will any demo come out?

    1. I'm sure Kyrieru will cue us in on the development status of [redacted] soon enough. Honestly though, much as I'd like to know how close to (or far from) a demo we are, time spent blogging only lengthens the wait. Of course, if you'd enjoy a respite from creation then by all means, feed us some deets Kyri.

    2. Of course it will be nice if He at least keep the Update Status every once a week/once every two week

But I think Kyri is a introvert type
      A month without any issue.......

Wait till a next month , hopefully "Stuff" will be replace~

  21. Anybody want to play tinfoil hats until the next entry? We can all guess and make up the plot of Kurovadis in the comments section. Things like who the bosses are and why Mariovania is connected to a sci-fi cave. Who knows, maybe we'll guess something canon or Kyrieru will like an idea enough to incorporate it. I'll start with some ridiculous guesses!

The game takes place under a futuristic city that was building a geothermal power plant. They stumbled onto an ancient castle that got buried for messing with some serious Necronomicon stuff thousands of years ago. The evil presence in it wasn't dead and began possessing and corrupting everything around- dead, living, or grown in a lab. Which is why all the human soldiers are rape machines.

Kuro is modified to be immune, but the process would not complete until long after the city was overrun. Her task is to hunt down the evil within the castle and destroy it, hopefully freeing everyone. Unfortunately it no longer resides there. The owner of the castle is not the succubus, but something more sinister that left the bio labs intact to grow it a new body. It is now expanding through the caves as the network of fleshy pillars. When Kuro finally blows it all up, things stop being apocalyptic.

    1. Actually...
That sounds somewhere near perfectly on target. xD
Though I'd say that maybe the Succubus is the person who played with the Necronomicon, while the thing at the end is what she summoned (which brought the apocalypse with it), or something its spirit possessed.

...also, seems like there were a lot of earthquakes. Or dirt getting flung into the sky and burying parts of the city. Which...isn't out of the question.

    2. I dig that summoning angle so I'm going to run with it in a different direction. Rambling hobo powers, go!

The scientist was the one who played with the Necronomicon. His facility got its hands on a cache of borderline alien knowledge with all kinds of possibilities for weapons and bio tech. Just to be safe, they kept the biggest experiments underground. Which is a good thing because they opened a gateway to the originators' castle. Now their world is bleeding into ours, spreading lava, monsters, spikes, giant gears, and other nightmares like a less rusty Silent Hill.

What's technology to us is magic to the demons. Kuro was created or modded from the same tech, so she can use the demons' own powers against them. Like how she takes the succubus's ice powers, the giant laser is one of their own weapons she adapts. This is also why so many oddly compatible power ups are lying throughout their castle.

      Delete
    3. I like the tech-magic idea~
Would also explain why she's able to resist possession and her weapons can damage them.
And why they can make her armor suddenly disappear if they grab her while she's disoriented xD

...kinda makes me think of Samus Aran, armor partially sustained by focus or something, while noone can alter it but her and a few bits of technology.

      Delete
    4. Another possibility is she is getting stripped (not shown) but with enough focus she can repair her clothes. Thanks to the concept drawing we know she's turning her arm into that cannon, which makes sense given her hands channel her gun. But aside from letting her punch lasers into zombies, the fabric is further up her arm when it morphs. Maybe Kuro's main schtick is her ability to adapt, whether improving her own stats, morphing her arms and clothes, or assimilating new weapons. The secondary weapons are glitchy, though, so they disappear at the slightest disruption.

We could just be over-thinking the details of the H scenes, but it's funner that way. If the possession theory is true, the H key must be the "Oh no, you got possessed" button. That's why Kuro spontaneously falls over from an unseen force and has to shake it off.

  22. I'm way late for this, but I just wanted to give a big "Thank you" for the Kuro sketch! I'm one of those people who did want to see how Kuro looks in her usual fighting state. Pretty swell, thanks!
