*3:21am*
*Just spent two hours try to decide on names*
I feel like half of the time I've spent on this demo has been being indecisive about writing. -__-
I'll be working all day tomorrow..dunno how much I'll get done.
Most of the scenes for the demo are written, some of the cutscenes are done. There's still a bunch of mechanics I need to finish, because I spent a lot of time redoing things that were bugging me, and making a better system for cutscenes that allows me to make characters do stuff during text, and a bunch of other things.
If it comes down to it, I'll play the "well I lost a day because of a broken tablet, so it'll be done tomorrow" card. Realistically, I probably won't finish it by the end of today (sunday, it's late at night in the morning right now).
It's kind of frustrating not being able to just wrap things up, but every time I work on something, I end up doing unnecessary things to try and make it better. But in the end, I know it's those things that makes something stand out, so I can't not do them.
Anyhow, time for sleep..I could go without sleep and work, but I'm sure that would only slow me down, so,
*woosh*
God damn you, perfectionism!
ReplyDeleteThat's why I offered you my help. I've got some nice systems on GM done already. Nice dialogue systems too, that allows to do a lot of nice things (it will be much easier to use GM8.1 though cause it have execute_string function, which allows you to do absolutely anythings during cutsceenes)
Well, the the thing about coding is that even if something exists, it's generally a good idea to learn how to do it yourself, since what you learn will help you do things that are completely unrelated.
DeleteThat reminds me of some work I still have to do. I'm working on an Pen & Paper RPG which is currently in progress of fixing some core mechanics. There's a lot of work left and I still haven't decided on a lot of names for the world, some skills and so on. That can be a chore.
ReplyDeleteNames ARE some pretty serious business... at least to me. I have spent hours trying to think up a name for a character before, since I'm really picky about it as well.
ReplyDeleteI could randomly throw some out, if you want.
Nah, I have all the names I need for now. It's less a problem of finding names, and more an issue of choosing between them.
DeleteFor instance, a name might be good, but overused or associated with a certain character. Or it might be unique, but not as fitting, or less striking.
Ah yeah, I see what you mean. I know I have that problem since I sometimes see such a nice name in a video game, or an anime, or something and then... I kind of want to use it, but then realize people might associate it with another and... yeah it gets messy sometimes.
DeleteThough it's funny when you pick a name, and later on, it gets associated with an actual character. I remember using the name "Einhart" before, and then some years later Nanoha ViVid came along...
Names can be a real hassle. When I used to write a lot coming up with names were the worst for me. Just take your time though. I'd rather see something real good come out than feel like it was rushed, demo or not.
ReplyDeleteI am 0% surprised by this news. X'D
ReplyDeleteKeep trucking along, though.
You've inspired me to start working on my game again, too, with your little burst of energy the last few weeks. I was hoping to see your rad sprite work today to give me another push, but alas, it doesn't seem it'll happen. :(
Looking forward to the demo, though!:3
Dude i know this is off topic but i just started speed running eroico and your so good at programming. Shit is so CASH.
ReplyDeleteAlso can't wait for the next game it will be sweet.
I dare you to finish it today.
ReplyDeleteIt's not really a matter of "wanting" to finish it or not -__-
DeleteOFF TOPIC question, but will you ever release flp files for some of your songs? I can definitely understand if not.
ReplyDeleteNot an flp file, but it would make more sense to release midis.
DeleteNot everyone has the same vsts, so half of it wouldn't load if it was in flp format.
