Sure, however, their game is also a hundred times more complicated. :p Anyway, I was only half-serious. I was just smiled a little when I saw your post, and my first thought honestly was "well, yeah, they actually need to keep their deadlines. X'D " Being serious, they knew they couldn't get everything perfect, and decided to cut the corners that would be missed the least. It seems like they made smart decisions. since the game is loved by both gamers and critics everywhere. =)
Well, Kyrieru, actually, most of them are likely salaried.
But I digress; I know very little about 3d modelling, but I can tell you that this person didn't know very much human anatomy. Bicep is too long at its flexion point and the tricep flexion is too low.
Knowing about human anatomy doesn't mean you can perfectly replicate it within time constraints every time. Unless you can do better, you can't claim to know any more anatomy than the artist that did this work. Actually, he almost definitely knows his anatomy better than you do. :p
No artist is perfect, but I think you're underestimating professional artists. Drawing poses is the quickest part of the process. Guidelines can be done in a few minutes, and corrected very quickly. For me, an understanding of anatomy is the issue, not time. For someone who actually takes on art as a career and works for a major studio, drawing good anatomy regardless of the time constraints is generally expected.
However, this is a modeling issue, which is quite different. Any professional rigger (it may have been rigged by someone other than the modeler) should have spotted such a mistake with basic tests, because it's part of the process. It's the equivalent of a sound in a game having clipping, it's not really a mistake anybody should be making at that level.
As for the game, it's great, but I feel as though a lot of corners were cut compared to Dark Souls 1. Graphically, there's a huge lack of bump maps, strangely enough. Not to mention, weapons break twice as fast and you have half as many invincibility frames when you play at 60fps, because of the way it's programmed. A lot of basic mistakes were made for something that shines so brightly in other areas.
yeah they changed a lot of the timing for the mechanics of the game and it really messed with me. I went form playing with no armor because i wasn't a greater challenge to not being able to do much at all because its the tiny timing that screwed me over. Also many of these mistakes can be accounted for when you learn miyazaki didn't direct this game.
I was put off by a lot of the changes at first, but after trying Dark souls 1 again for comparison, I think it feels a lot better, at least for my play-style. However the way the worlds flow together isn't nearly as cohesive as the first game, which I think is where the director probably had a lot of input.
I can't tell if I like it more or not. I feel like I'm progressing a lot faster, and I'm having fun, but it sort of lacks the soul that Dark Souls 1 had. It just felt like there was less attention to detail this time around.
I liked Dark Souls 2 but it really lacks vision compared to its predecessor. I especially hate how the game constantly throws mobs of tough enemies at you. Forcing me to fight seven armored giants IS hard, yes but it's also tedious. It lacks creativity and the fighting mechanics just aren't built for multiple encounters. It feel like the level designers didn't understand that.
Nah, it's something that happens when the arm bends. Generally because there aren't enough vertices around elbow, or because it wasn't rigged well. It's a common problem. Or rather, it used to be..
Not to be a dick, but they have a deadline which they met and released one hell of a game (or games if we talk about all of them), you don't have one and fail constantly when you actually don't have time pressure (Only now you have money pressure).
Let's not go around looking for the details and errors of others, you have plenty of these. Again, I don't mean to be rude, just saying that you should look at yourself in the mirror before criticizing others like that, makes you look like a hipocrite after all those excuses you made before.
If you think I need to "take a look in the mirror" you obviously haven't been paying much attention to how I regard my own games, or indeed myself as a developer.
Also, you don't seem to understand what a hypocrite is. "Someone with flaws pointing out flaws" is not "hypocritical". If it were, any criticism would be hypocritical, because nobody is perfect. The day I insult someone for missing deadlines is the day you can call me a hypocrite.
Kyrieru, sorry to be rude, but you was born by a talent to gift people one of the best hentai games. So,just one question. Why you dont continue to do this?
That game was amazing. Despite the lackluster story it was close to being the game of my dreams. No one ever wants to make a epic medieval game to that caliber.
On topic. You have a good eye for detail to notice something like that, I tend to ignore that stuff unless i'm working at my QA job. Those are bugs that are usually minuscule at most and ignored by devs and artist if only due to time restraint.
Also, the tension in this dev blog is getting thick.
Dark Souls 2 is pretty good. I feel like the graphics and the level design aren't quite as good as Dark Souls 1, but combat feels a lot faster, and the whole thing feels a lot more approachable. Though there were some weird design choices, like only making it possible to level up in one location.
Problems like this aren't really noticeable because you have armor on most of the time.
Well, that only really happens if you lose a lot. You tend to get enough items to return yourself to normal, even if you're losing once on every boss. But I imagine it would be frustrating for players who have a problem with it's difficulty.
He must have gotten bored and wanted negative responses with a stupid post. Fullflap has a Dark Souls Parody game which will probably be out before Ky's next blog update, lolz.
It really looks more appealing than kyrieru's game, tbh. I've never actually fapped to kurovadis or eroico. I don't like the CG, and the in game h content is between tiny little chibi sprites.
Most of the bosses have actually been pretty easy so far, to be honest. The first boss to give me trouble are the twin gargoyles, since you have to fight two at once.
I guess that's another boss I'll have to leave and come back to once I play Dark Souls 2 again. It seems like Dark souls 2 is somewhat forgiving in that regard, since there's usually other places to go at any given time.
Yeah, the good old collapsing elbow artifact. It's a well-known side effect of vertex blending. They would have to implement a better algorithm for character animation like STBS [1] or they should have chosen a better default pose for their meshes.

I made a female character and spent a significant amount of time getting her face to look "feminine" (which was hard due to the, in my opinion, very strange customization options).
When I was finally happy with her face, I pressed accept and went in-game only to discover that her shoulders there were about a mile and a half across...
When people give me legitimate advice or feedback, I take it into consideration and respond respectfully. When they're rude and intentionally aggressive, I respond in kind, especially in the face of irrational or presumptuous statements.
You're actually pretty polite to everyone, I think, Kyrieru. You show some pretty impressive patience with the people who are obviously just trying to rile you up. Must be your Canadian blood, hahah. X'D
You have the power in the relationship. Anonymous comments online will always be like this. You don't have to lower yourself to bitter responses to every dumb ass jibe. That's all I wanted to say, bro. Just relax, it doesn't matter.
it's to save hard drive space
ReplyDeleteMost next gen games I've played have this problem. Femshep comes to mind.
ReplyDeleteI'm looking at that elbow, specifically -__-
DeleteBad rigging I guess.
It's hard to tell if weighting would solve the problem without seeing the mesh. But ya, the rigger should have made a corrective shapekey/blendshape.
DeleteAnyone else fapping?
ReplyDeleteAt least their game is out. Heyoooo! Nah, just kidding....kind of. :p
ReplyDeletesick burn
DeleteSure, however they also have hundreds of people who are being paid to work by the hour..

I mean, the game is pretty awesome, right?:3

DeleteYeah, players just end up drawing out one enemy at a time. I don't think the player should ever have to resort to cheesy tactics.
DeletePersonally I found that the game-play felt smoother in DKS2 but the design was better in DKS1. Though I very much enjoyed both of them.
DeleteYup, pretty much sums up my opinion of it as well.
DeleteHopefully they make more, and learn from both.
iirc you can adjust forearm and bicep size, perhaps the elbow is attached to the forearm slider.
ReplyDeleteNah, it's something that happens when the arm bends. Generally because there aren't enough vertices around elbow, or because it wasn't rigged well. It's a common problem. Or rather, it used to be..
DeleteDon't do it Kyrieru! I know the temptation to play DS2 is strong but you'll get delayed and people will rage more!
ReplyDeletePS: That floor texture quality is exquisite
So when you go to your day job, you work all day? You should really talk to your boss about giving you 8-hour work days, at least.
ReplyDeleteNot to be a dick, but they have a deadline which they met and released one hell of a game (or games if we talk about all of them), you don't have one and fail constantly when you actually don't have time pressure (Only now you have money pressure).

DeleteYou are not prepared for this post,Passerby!
DeleteHa I have this Game ^^ "Dragons Dogma" ist pretty good >_<

I dont like Dark Souls very much =( it´s because of this Zombe Thing that you are in Game =(

DeleteHoly tittyfucking christ, the demo is out. Bye.
"This just in, Quality Hentai Gaming is dead."
ReplyDeleteinb4 Kyrieru's next blog update is looking for strategies on beating the first boss.
ReplyDeleteMost of the bosses have actually been pretty easy so far, to be honest. The first boss to give me trouble are the twin gargoyles, since you have to fight two at once.
DeleteDark Souls II? Twin Gargoyles? I have bad news for you...
DeleteIs the bad news that there are more than 2? >_>
DeleteI'm not talking about the ones in Dark Souls 1, if that's what you're saying.
There's five or six in DSII. You have about 30 seconds to kill the first two before the next two spawn.
DeleteIt's fairly easy with heavy armor and no lock-on though. Just make sure you keep plenty of space between you and the group.
God dammit Dark Souls -__-
DeleteI guess that's another boss I'll have to leave and come back to once I play Dark Souls 2 again. It seems like Dark souls 2 is somewhat forgiving in that regard, since there's usually other places to go at any given time.

I had to check he option for a larger head, otherwise it looked way out of proportion to me -__-
DeleteI've a much bigger problem that the tits aren't bigger.
ReplyDeleteI mean seriously, even in Demon's souls women had some normal breasts, but this is just too flat (even tough I like small breasts)
Kyrieru have you ever seen kimbo slice, that arm is anatomically correct.
ReplyDeleteLmao... This guy raging is hilarious.
ReplyDeleteBecause these "fans" totally aren't antagonizing him. Oh wait.
ReplyDeletePlease stop pointlessly antagonizing game producers.
ReplyDeleteWhen people give me legitimate advice or feedback, I take it into consideration and respond respectfully. When they're rude and intentionally aggressive, I respond in kind, especially in the face of irrational or presumptuous statements.
ReplyDeleteCan I have the game now please? :c
ReplyDeleteIS IT CAN IT BE DEMO TIEM NAO PLS?

ReplyDeleteI found that dex/str have been nerfed badly in DS2. It's all about elemental weapons and pumping your faith/int.
ReplyDeleteHell you might as well go hexer for the bonus spells since elementals now scale.
