Just wanted to say thank you again to everybody who pre-ordered, I really appreciate it.
I don't really want to give an ETA on Noaika just yet, since that never ends well for me, but I will say that I do have some big plans for it, so it's still going to take a while.
I appreciate your patience, and I understand that it must seem like I'm taking a long time, (because I am). My number one priority after I finish Noaika will be to work on the template I've always mentioned, so that hopefully I never run into the issue of starting a small game because I'm worried about time, only to making the jump to a large game. It always results in a lot of fixing problems, and dealing with shortcuts that come back to bite me.
Anyhow, thanks again.
Looking forward to it~
ReplyDeleteyay an update +2
ReplyDeleteLonger the wait the better the game... Fund your formula and stick to it
ReplyDeleteThen it will out on 2020
DeleteTake Your time to wait
Duke Nukem Forever
DeleteDo your best.
ReplyDeleteI'm looking forward to it. Has it changed much since the demo?
ReplyDeleteYes, there have been some major changes. While the gameplay and areas in the demo are still there, there are more areas and content within them, in addition to the aforementioned major change, which is graphical, but doesn't effect the gameplay or tone of the game.
DeleteIm looking forward to it... But at the same time I no longer really have any hopes for it, since everytime you tell us anything you just do a complete 180 and say the game is different now deal with it heres 8 more months of dev time. Starting to feel like EA or SquareEnix, where youre jsut taking all the time in the world because you know people will give you money no matter what. Kind of concerned about how its going to come out.
ReplyDeleteEA releases their games by the deadline no matter what, resulting in a buggy and incomplete mess.
DeleteKyrieru may take a long time, but at least when his games come out, you know they'll be pretty good.
^this
DeleteMore like the Blizzard treatment rather than EA
DeleteKyrieru is a game similar to those of the SNES or Sega Genesis era, piggybacking off the same mechanics as Metroid and Mega Man. Boasting its fewer bugs than recent gen games is like bragging that your bicycle has broken down fewer times than your Boeing AH-64 Apache. Games of greater complexity have much more code and much more room for error, and when you're coordinating with hundreds of designers and programmers to make a game like Skyrim which offers a lot more on its plate and takes 200 hours to experience everything in the game, it can be very difficult to find all the bugs through closed play-testing when you need to hit your deadline (because this game's development is draining all of your company's money).
DeleteSo be kind to big game companies, because their games are far more ambitious than this game and are incredibly difficult to make.
I will only be nice to game companies that make games that are fun and interesting rather than re-texture of something we already made so we can rail road you through set pieces before you can start to actually enjoy them. So basically I'll be nice to games other than CoD. Battlefield at least had 2142.
DeleteWhen it comes to bugs, I enjoy them. When things break the game can become quite hilarious, even if you were trying to play it seriously.
CoD does mountains more in innovation and game play over licensed sports games like Fifa and Madden that excel in making minor tweaks and performance upgrades to the same game over and over. But you don't complain about sports or racing games because you recognize those as niche genres whereas you forget that war-simulating FPS games are niche as well. CoD just prevails as the longest-running franchise that still maintains popularity over franchises like Rainbow Six and Medal of Honor. But like how everyone hates Justin Beiber because he "totally blows ass" (even though he doesn't) it's the fanbase that irks you; too many people praise it and blow the hype out of proportion to the degree that you don't just say "I disagree, it's not THAT good", but "fuck this series, it's absolute shit, it's the same garbage re-hashed over and over." Mind you this is never any different with sequels in any other series, but fuck me if it's a new call of duty game that seems awfully similar to previous titles in the same series.
DeleteAt least you told us that this is nowhere near completion. I can check here less frequently. This is exactly why i didn't pre order, it's a scapegoat. I've lost done respect for you. Doesn't matter to you i know, but at least now you know how i feel about you
ReplyDeleteSome*
DeleteTrust me when I say I don't ever want to do pre-orders again. I hate pre-orders myself, and whenever people say "I'm going to buy all your games!" I tend to respond with "don't buy the shitty ones". I don't plan on setting up pre-orders for future games.
DeleteAgain it's the same Issue as Kurovadis and Eroico had. When you scrap a game you have to start ALL OVER, which means most of the time it's gonna take a lot of time, again. People complaining about a single person developing an inexpensive game like it had a schedule is annoying.
DeleteAAA game companies do it all the time, either delaying a game for months or releasing them as a buggy mess in order to meet a deadline, yet we see people buying those same games for $50 without a doubt in their heads. You can complain as much as you want, however if you look away you will only find worse examples than Kyrieru.
Well, Kurovadis and Eroico didn't really have those issues. But they were a "result" of issues with larger games. Noaika was sort of similar to those games in that it was a small project meant to fill the gap. This time, however, I want to just go the extra mile so that I don't have regrets like I did with them.
DeleteI kind of feel the same way, just less harsh. No offense to Kyrieru, but he does have a tendency to get damn far in a game just to decide it's not perfect and scrap it. I didn't want to toss $20 at a game I may never see if he decided he wanted to change everything. I don't doubt that he will release another game eventually - he's simply not consistent enough.
Delete"Senpai, please update me."
ReplyDeleteSo as it stand how long can you "survive" with these pre-orders?
ReplyDeleteWell, far more people pre-ordered than I anticipated, and paid far more than I anticipated. So quite a while.
ReplyDeleteI plan on making this pre-order code work with Noaika and another game, maybe even one after that, given that the people who pre-ordered paid almost always paid more than $5.
I hope the next one's actually short, then. I'd feel guilty about only throwing down $10 for something I'd probably be willing to pay 20 for in a better month.
DeleteTotally looking forward to your game, Ky, whenever it comes out. I'm really interested in seeing what you do with the boss fights.
Well, my games are still going to be $5, so even then you've paid for more than the cost of one game, right?
DeleteThat's a good way to do businesses. Will definitely consider that pre order now if it's still an option.
DeleteWell, a good way of doing business would have been to not screw up so many times. No game should need pre-orders, so hopefully I won't ever have to resort to it again -__-
DeleteLearn from your mistakes. I hope that fighting game comes around again and another with a male protagonist.
DeleteYup, thats the plan lol. (learning from my screw-ups, that is)
DeleteThe fighting game wasn't actually going to be a fighting game, but rather more of a martial arts metroidvania with a lot of moves. I'll probably do something like it again at some point, though I doubt it would be the same resolution again.
I think you should post some screenshots, just to reassure some people about the development progression.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, I looking forward for the release. I hope, soon.
Do your best =D
We already got a demo, so I don't think there is much more we need to know until he releases the full game.
DeleteYeah, I completely agree.
DeleteBut I've the feeling that some people don't understand that Kyrieru is a "perfectionist". So he wants to give the best and only the best for his game. And it takes time, which is normal. So, given some of the comments left before, I think it could "appease" some people.
But hey, that's just my opinion after all. Perhaps I'm wrong.
I think screenshots would still be nice if there's anything graphically new. Not like it costs him much.
DeleteGonna be awfully sad if the familiars don't do anything ero after all the waiting :/
ReplyDeleteOh they will all right.
DeleteNice!
DeleteHow's everything looking up in your (the dev's) perspective? It felt like the ambience was already well portrayed in the demo, so I was wondering what graphical changes you made, as pointed out in one of your comments.
ReplyDeleteI wonder if creating a Hentai platformer is more difficult then creating a Hentai RPG. Ah well, as I like to say, an H game is only as good as it's H content. I do like platformers, hell I grew up with NES contra, but I really fell in love with your sprite sex animations, even while as it stands they can't contain my favorite fetishes. I can understand why you need to take your time in creating your games and if need be, more fuel for the fire to continue the development, Kyrieru. You haven't failed us yet~
ReplyDeleteGood things come to those that wait, Gentlemen.
A majority of H RPGs use RPGMaker (a template, that is), so there's no engine-building to be done, as most of the assets for the game part of it are already there. Add to that the fact that they typically just have CG (rather than animated content), and you've got very little in way of potential problems... Kyrieru, meanwhile, has to build that entire engine first, then inevitably go back and alter it to fit new mechanics and iron out bugs, /then/ make all the game parts... which are a platforming genre that takes far more technical work than 'more text', which takes up a majority of RPG-genre H-games, given how textually driven they tend to be. Add to that the fact that we get /more/ content in a genre that's far more difficult to add playtime to (an RPG needs only sidequests or more conversation, while almost the entirety of Kyrieru's games need, by design, be actual gameplay), and you can start to see the problem.
DeleteOnce he creates the template he's oft mentioned, he can make new games quicker thanks to having his own pre-made 'akin to RPG Maker' tool, which I can estimate could cut a full quarter or third off the dev time (just an educated guess, mind you-- would vary wildly based on the game and what assets such a template would provide), but then there's still the fact that we get animations, combat mechanics, mobility mechanics, game balancing, sound... and, in fact, often a similar or greater amount of what's actually /in/ the RPG-genre H-games, like exploration, strategic combat, more CGs, and even a bit of leveling (Kurovadis). I mean, hell, a majority of RPG Maker games I see don't even have a single non-CG asset that isn't from the default package-- they literally just jigsaw pieces together, add text, add some CGs, and done.
He's making entire games from -scratch- /and/ on his own. To use cooking as a comparison, it's the difference between instant ramen from a microwave and beef wellington made with a box of matches-- he's somehow making a more difficult product with less than would even be considered practical. He's managed to do several people worth of a job and do each /better/ than even the genre's upper-echelons. Genres', actually, since he's not only giving some of the best H games, but some of the best action-platformers in general to have been released in recent years.
And that's even disregarding the fact that he then sells those games for the price of a sandwich.
If you ever want to truly terrify yourself, take some game design classes... once you can make an asteroids or tetris-level game from scratch, and more of a full game with some premade kit like RPG Maker, you start to understand how bigger games are made by imagining the divided work...
Looking at a game like Kurovadis, made by a single person? It's quite the sensation of 'staring into the abyss'. It's practically unfathomable. Every time I almost comprehend the staggering quantity and quality, some realization (like 'wait, and he does the music) just awestrikes me anew.
I got a bit derailed there-- to clarify, I've played plenty of fantastic RPG Maker games, and some of my favorite games tend to be built around RPG conventions (Fire Emblem, Pokemon, etc.). It's just a comparison of the /work/ that's involved, more than anything. I went from trying to answer a question to fangirling a bit, sorry. ^^"
DeleteH-RPG's are like JRPG's in general; you fall head over heels in love with the first few you play, but eventually you realize those games were just a couple titles in an overwhelmingly massive pile of similar games and you slowly grow to resent the genre entirely. Eventually you're just decompiling and ripping the porn from them unless they're BF or Action RPG's.
DeleteI think you do speak bias. Kyrieru also uses GameMaker Studio, anyway. Sure there *might* be more work involved but it's misleading to say it's "from scratch." He's got the proper skills to handle this genre on his own. RPG game makers probably put as much love and effort into their work.
DeleteAnd the template, haha. If anything, I think dev time for people would still be about the same but we'd have more content if that ever goes around lol
Just through sheer exposure to the droves of RPGmaker games of garbage quality and minimal effort, I can say no, a significantly massive proportion of indie rpgmaker developers do not pour love and effort into their games. GameMaker games require more dedication to create because less is outright handed to you from the beginning. If you want to add combat to a gamemaker game, you have to create the combat system. In RPG Maker, the turn-based combat mechanic is already there: you just tweak the variables if you want to, and add customized assets on your own (though many don't).
DeleteYou don't have to build anything yourself in RPG Maker. You plop down pre-made assets on a board, drag and drop pre-made scripts and mechanics, type out your fanfiction into the text boxes and viola; you "made a game".
Most of the RPG Maker games on steam have as much effort put into them as a video made in Xtranormal, but most of the people in the latter don't have the audacity to call themselves "animators".
Most RPG Maker games are garbage. The ones that aren't (like To The Moon and 100% Orange Juice which won awards) simply use RPG Maker mods that the japanese have been using for three years but simply haven't been used in western games. So it's all lazy shit unless someone tries to give half a fuck and throw in their own custom assets.
You have done a great job on the demo so I say take your time and make it as good or even better than the demo.
ReplyDeletePS. I love your work!!!
Smash for Wii U is out. Noaika irrelevant in 3... 2... 1...
ReplyDeleteWhat's that? I was too busy kicking ass with Mario for the first time in the series.
Deleteproject m my friend
DeleteMore like Project Smug Elitism
DeleteI don't know if I know anyone here after you guys mentioned PM... huh.
DeleteWell, you deserved it, the controls are great and the gameplay is really fun too. I'd have paid more if I wasn't so goddamn poor. Looking forward to the full release.
ReplyDeleteHey Kyrieru, are you going to release the full game next or are you uploading a second demo before that?
ReplyDeleteWell, there will be a definitive demo once the game is done, but I don't think I'll release another demo before then.
DeleteCould you post about what the graphical change was.
DeleteHow do you like that sprite editor onion skin on Gm:Studio 1.4?
ReplyDeleteI still use 1.2, since the last times I updated, there were numerous issues. They didn't fix them in 1.3, so I haven't really checked 1.4 yet.
DeleteAs for onion skinning, it makes less of a difference in pixel art than it does in line art. Currently, I just use the 1 and 2 keys which cycle through frames. It's perfectly fine for checking placement and motion, in most situations.
Onion skinning will probably help with things like sword trails in attacks, though.
I'll preorder once I get my bank sorted. Glad everything is still being worked on. :D
ReplyDeleteRIP.
ReplyDeleteI've been checking this blog every day like it's a ritual, though it's not because I think it'll actually come out tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteI'm mostly hoping to see a blog post about this suggested big change.
Hmm...maybe I'll do that soon, since I don't want to spoil anything else.
DeleteThe feels I share with you, Mamano' xD
DeleteI'm just hoping for updates of any sort, really, be it blog-, progress- or art-reports, what the weather is like or how green the grass is in Kyrieru's frontyard.
I would love a daily pic of the front yard/sky
DeleteLiterally just slap the keys and hit post and let us get into violent speculation over its deciphered meaning.
DeleteThis so much, anon.
DeleteI was a big fan of eroico. After this game is finished will be there something similar to Eroico where you play as a male. It was a lot of fun and finally it brouth some variety cuz 90% in H-Spritegames you play as a female against tentacles.
ReplyDeleteI love the reverse aspect of hentai games where the male gets raped as much as the next guy, but unfortunately Kyrieru told us that he wants to focus on female protagonists. That, and a lot of the larger scale games he was sketching out all had female protagonists. So such is his main focus.
DeleteIf you want a game with a male protagonist, Erotical Night 2 is in development, and Ero Night 1 was pretty good. That's something to look forward to.
Hmm..I don't recall saying anything like that. Though I do prefer female protagonists somewhat because there are more options, in terms of fetishes. However, male protagonists are fine too, and there are still plenty of options as long as I'm more creative with designs than I was with Eroico. I do plan on making more games with male protagonists,
DeleteI prefer female protagonists but dang, Erotical Night was goooooood.
DeletePardon if I came off as rude. I recalled that right after Eroico came out, everyone was curious about another game with a male protagonist (as was I, shamelessly enough). I don't recall your reply word for word, but it did clear up the question about which gender the protags of your next handful of games would be.
DeleteWas personal assumption on my part, I apologize for that. I figured the male protagonist game drew inspiration from Monster Girl Quest, and once Eroico was finished, the idea of a male protag was set aside in favor of what you preferred to make.
You make great games either way, and clearly a lot of Tender Love and Care goes into them. Everyone respects you for that.
Male protag games can be interesting because they provide a larger roster of female characters, and MGQ and Onesyota are good examples of how many things you can do with a male character without going crazy with the desings (I'm looking at you Berriel)
DeleteEroico had a bunch of all similar cowgirl poses, but that doesn't mean that's the only option, you just have to be creative with what the monster girls can do (eg an arachne can snare a guy in a spiderweb and have her way there)
I personally want to see another role reversed game soon, but for now I'm hype for Noaika
@Mamono Assault Force: You don't ever have to worry about offending me -__-
Delete@Thunder: One of the things that makes monster girls take longer to make, is the the fact that standards for humanoid characters is higher than something that's designed to look monstrous. I enjoy doing monster girls games, though, because it's feels more like there's a lot of characters, as opposed to just the protagonist.
Taste wise, I'm more into tentacles than monster girls so I prefer a female protagonist... Also kinda used to all the faceless men in Hentai. :/
Delete@Kyrieru "lot of characters, as opposed to just the protagonist."
DeleteExactly this. It's boring to have only one girl in a game. Also not everyone has to be a monstergirl. In Eroico i liked the enemies in the 2nd world the most. The others in the first world were all good, too. But I'm really curious who likes the enemies in the third world? In my opinion those designs are over the line (0 attractive) and there must be a very small minority who would like them.
Overall the designs were kind of bad I think -__-
DeleteThe vampire girl wasn't bad, in the third world.
In the 3rd world, the vampire girl was the one I liked least. Not sure why.
DeleteOddly enough (because I'm not into "scalies"), I really liked the Lizardgirls, though mostly for their H animation; their regular sprites leave me rather indifferent. I liked the Dragongirls too; they have a very feminine shape and, when they switch positions, it creates a contrast between their female aspect and draconic one (even when there's no actual shapeshifting occuring) that made their feminine appearance stand out more. Their H animation was generic but OK.
Aside from the mummy girl which I also didn't care for much, the 2nd world girls were probably the best, yes. But not necessarily because the girls were very humanoid; the harpies' H animation was amazing, and surprisingly graphic considering it's pixel art.
The 2nd world boss is super hot (not pun intended) and the gender change was both sexy and hilarious (the piano sound there was genius, by the way), but lesbian sex doesn't really do it for me.
The ghost girls in the 2nd world don't have H animations so I can't really comment on them. Guess she's not officially a monster girl, which makes sense because there's four per world (plus one boss).
Hard to say if I prefer a female protagonist or a male one. With a female protagonist the diversity comes from the immense variety of activities and fetishes she can be involved with, but that makes the enemies boring, and if someone doesn't like the protagonist it kinda ruins the whole H aspect of the entire game for them.
With a male protagonist you can make a ton of attractive enemies, which is a huge plus, and any individual is bound to find a good number of them appealing, but the variety of activities will suffer somewhat because, well, the only thing they've got to work with is a single human penis.
Ultimately I think I like a male protagonist just a little bit better because it allows me to identify with him; not much, but still a plus. If I play a female character then I'm just watching some girl get sexually assaulted, which while still hot somehow, doesn't really allow me to feel involved in the scene at all.
But really, it's not that big a deal. I enjoy both types of games, which is fortunate because 95% of them are the kind with female protagonists and I'd be really screwed if I didn't like those.
Now I should probably stop typing before I write another accidental novel.
My favorite was the harpy in world two, but i'd say the lizard girl from world three was cute too, if it's only just because they remind me of Granberia
Delete@Tri: Well, like you said, it kind of depends on your ability to identify with a female protagonist. For me, as a straight guy, I'm still able to identify with either gender. For some people, they can't and so there's nowhere to place themselves in the scene.
DeleteMonster girl games are kind of harder, because to include a "fetish" or something different for an enemy, it more or less means not having a vaginal scene, or doing both. Yet another reason why a 3d action game would be nice, because then I could do many animations using the same models.
That must be really nice. I just can't identify with a female character and I'm probably missing out because of that.
DeleteIt's actually possible if it's been stated that some male-to-female gender change (magical or scientifictional) occurred, but that's a very rare fetish, and awkward since I'm also a straight guy.
As much as I love 2D, you make 3D sound more and more appealing content-wise. I agree, having the fetish scene relevant to the type of monster girl involved as well as a more standard sex scene (or two) would be nice, and when you've worked hard on a model it just makes sense to use it a lot.
Unfortunately, it seems to me like a 3D game with a male protagonist would take longer to make than one with a female protagonist because you'd have to spend more time on each female model (they're the important ones). A game with a female protagonist could have less detailed enemies and no one would care much, which would save a lot of time (only one detailed model needed).
Ah well. Doesn't matter; no game is perfect but I know whatever you end up doing will be great.
Well, if I ever made a game with gender transformation, the original gender would be female. I have no problem "role-playing" a female character in mind and body. On the other hand, if it's a guy who transformed into a girl, I'm no longer role-playing a girl, but a "guy" in a girl's body, and my straight brain just goes "nope!". Odd that my brain makes such a distinction, but that's how it is.
DeleteAs for 3d, if anything, humanoid monsters might be easier, because they would use the same skeleton, or parts of the same rig as a base. Even if they didn't, though, making models isn't too time consuming. It might take a day or two, but if there are only 10 enemies in the first game, it wouldn't be too bad.
World 2 was high tier. Especially the harpyie, amazon and the dancer(?). Also level design was the most fun.
DeleteI remember the genie boss from world two having a TF game over, I don't know about long-term transformations in-game, but having at least one enemy use that ability during a GO scene in a male protag game seems fun. Of course if said enemy was male then it would also become weird, after all the genie was still just a yuri scene after all
DeleteI like the Mormon dildo idea, very original.
ReplyDeleteThanks, if you can pull that idea off well enough you can use it for free.
DeleteHey Ky, you think you'll be able to release the game this month? Would be cool.
ReplyDeleteIt would indeed be cool, but Kyrieru's been smart enough to never give a specific release date, knowing full well it would mean absolutely nothing. Plus, who knows how long the game will be delayed given those mysterious graphical changes? If it comes out this month, cool, but I'm not actively expecting it.
DeleteIt'll be ready when it'll be ready.
And it will be awesome.
I don't know if you're correcting bugs or not but I found 2 kinda game breaking.
ReplyDelete-Get near an enemy(*cough*Zombie*cough*) and pres down and smash the jump and meelle button. Tadada! You've successfully killed almost any enemy in 2secs top.
-A weird texture with the squids bullets, they look normal, I would suggest forceing the game to use this one: http://www.globalsecurity.org/military/systems/munitions/images/97aim9x.jpg
~Thanks Kyru. ^_^
PS:U awesome!
'Zombies' killed with the jump+melee spam also tend to hover in the air, half-transparent, if you do it right. It's harder to pull off on other enemies, though, due to a lack of stun.
DeleteWhat's more interesting is that the jump+melee hits a wide area in front of and behind Noa-chan, meaning that you can easily wipe out a swarm of zombies despite being surrounded by them.
@Gracie:"game breaking" XD I know right, works too(But mmuuucchhh worse) with upercut and jump+melee(Hold up+down), that's my favourite glitch I ever found.
DeleteI fucking love games where you get to play as a cute girl and get raped by monsters.
DeleteHey, have you seen "Me! Me! Me!"?
ReplyDeleteNope, should I?
DeleteIf you want to. I watched it, was startled but liked it.
DeleteProblem is, I wish I could talk about it openly with friends, but uh... that wouldn't go well. :\
Well, I watched it, as I mentioned below, pretty neat.
DeleteI imagine not having friends who are open about adult content must be kind of frustrating sometimes. Though, you might be surprised to find how many of your "normal" friends are in the same situation as you (Though that really depends on the friends -__-).

To clarify what he's on about just something Ecchi that's been exploding on the internet for a bit now, context -spoilers- from what I've noticed is ehh.. about a boy that left a girl I suppose? Something with idolizing and otaku obsession and such. Been seeing it everywhere and was like ''Oh I'll watch it too then.'' It's interesting in it's own way because of ''shock'' value I suppose :P.
Mmm...I dunno if I'd call it shocking. There's no more violence than I'd expect in a normal anime, and less sex than I'd expect in a hentai lol. It's a pretty neat animation, though.
DeletePersonally enjoyed the nightclub style music and transition halfway through with the shooting, and the creepy undertone the scenes with the four eyed mask gives.
DeleteI see the Me! Me! Me! video as part of a series of smaller animation projects in the vein of the Anime Mirai projects but much smaller scale.
DeletePart of the reason why a number of the Anime Mirai one-shots didn't go anywhere was because of some arbitrary insistence on having each entry be a full-length episode. Some entries work just fine at that length and others simply don't.
The Me! Me! Me! video and some of the other Animator Expo videos can be found here:
http://animatorexpo.com/titlelist/
What makes the Animator Expo videos unique is that they are all done by Gainax staff and all the roles are voiced by Megumi Hayashibara and Koichi Yamadera. The Dragon Dentist video is an obvious pun.
-Keno
I've been going to my local Denny's and cutting out all of The Hobbit breakfast specials and replacing them with ads for your game.
ReplyDeleteI don't expect an increase in sales, but you're welcome regardless.
On the topic of gender-swapping, I think the best way of thinking about it would be to just consider appearances to mean absolutely nothing. So, as a male character turned female, it's just a matter of looking down and realizing you have boobs and a vagina now. You're still you, so I wouldn't say that such a change would alter who you are.
ReplyDeleteIf you read one-piece, you might have read the scene where a muscular, burly, shirtless, cigar smoking Commando looking dude has his body swapped with his sexy female second-in-command. The result? The female suddenly becomes an intimidating, shirtless(tits were hanging out), cigar smoking commando while the muscular dude suddenly appears very polite and well-spoken. The only people who seem to have trouble adjusting are everyone else around them, while the victims of the body swapping just act like themselves while wanting their original bodies back.
So, in my opinion, genderswapping is less about how much you change with your new appearance, and more about how the world changes it's reactions towards you.
@Mamono: Well, that's just it. Whenever I ever see media where a guy is turned into a girl (through magic, for example), I still perceive him as a guy. For me, playing a game where a guy turned into a girl would be pretty much the same as Yaoi. It's just how my brain naturally reacts to the notion. I have no issues with other people enjoying that kind of gender bending, of course, it's just that it's not appealing to me on a sexual level.
Delete@Anon: If I cared about not offending people, I wouldn't be making a game based around fighting and sex -__-
I have to agree with your thought on the whole male > female. I watched one hentai scene that involved a girl on a train, was quite well done. However when I found the real anime it turned out to be a male who was turned into a female and that same scene was a complete loss for me, same thing with Ranma 1/2 for example, its a good show and the scenes I saw (as I came in half way) I assumed it was a girl > guy which I was fine with, when I realized it was the other way, well....yeah. Its not that its bad, just something not of my taste and I can't wrap my head around it.
DeleteIt's funny, because female Ranma is one of my favourite female character designs. But the thought of female Ranma having sex with one of the male characters...just...nope, -__-
DeleteHaha, hence the awkwardness I mentioned.
DeleteIf I turned into a hot girl all of a sudden, I definitely wouldn't want to have sex with guys. And I'd be terribly sad about losing my penis because, again, while girl on girl is nice on the eyes it's not really something I can understand.
Although, I'd probably spend a lot more time in front of a mirror...
Female Ranma is super cute. If she had sex with a male character I'd find it hot, but only because, for the purpose of the sex scene, I'd identify with the male character and not with Ranma.
Female to male transformations are... just wrong. It's like deleting a hot character to create one that could have been pretty much any male creature, with no one caring where they came from.
Really, there's some far less complex fetishes out there. I just mentioned it because I actually liked the scene with Eroico's 2nd boss despite generally finding lesbian sex pretty but kinda boring.
The witch scene from Kurovadis was totally acceptable, though. It was like a lesbian scene, except with a penis making standard sex possible. Works for me.
Well, my plan for a gender bending game goes something like this,
DeleteThere's a kingdom at war with demons (including monster girls), and a prophecy that a hero will draw a legendary sword in order to defeat them. The protagonist would be an infamous female thief, who is being pursued by the kingdom for her crimes (Some selfish, and some robin-hood-esque). She would come upon the sword, either by chance during a chase, or because she wanted to find and sell it. Upon drawing the sword, however, she would be transformed into a guy, because the hero in the prophecy was male, and in this world prophecies are actually curses that force things to happen, rather than predictions.
She would then inadvertently save the princess of the kingdom from demons while in this male form, gaining the favour of the kingdom as the hero of prophecy. Shortly after she would gain the ability to seal the male form at will, creating a scenario where she has to both keep her female identity a secret from the kingdom, and keep her hero identity a secret from those who oppose the kingdom.
There would be times when a situation could be approached as either gender, with the "credit" going to the chosen form, as well as times when it could only be approached by one. So basically the story would be about taking one side over the other, and manipulating things from behind enemy lines, or balancing both persona's.
Why are three paragraphs of text capable of setting a better game formula than a full AAA trailer? Now THAT would be something really fun to mess around if it was made into a game
DeleteWow. That... that actually sounds pretty awesome.
DeleteSeriously, if done right, this could be a fantasy series or a fairly big RPG.
Well, it's decided. We'll make at least two dozen Kyrieru clones and put them all to work on different projects.
I am somehow reminded of the plot to Dragon's Bride, where the evil demon king offers the brave hero who could kill him a kingdom and half the world, but uses his power to transform the hero's half of the world into all men giving him a sausage party hemisphere. But this plan backfires as the demon king's hemisphere turns into all women. Faced with a doomed kingdom (as women can't breed together) the demon (queen) grows a penis and starts making babies.
DeleteSo... How's life? Just cold round' this part of the planet atm.
ReplyDeleteGot a new hard drive for my Wii U so I can have more than two games downloaded. Bayonetta 2 is 17 gigs, hyrule warrior's about 15, don't even get me started on mario kart and smash bros.
DeleteI want "eroico 2" ...
ReplyDeleteThis IS the sequel. It just features a different character, story, setting, gameplay mechanic, and does not reference the previous installment in any way whatsoever.
DeleteIf I end up doing a sequel to Eroico, it would basically just be so I could use the ending as a setting. I doubt the gameplay would be that close, even if it were a platformer.
Delete.
Would it be a roguelike rail-shooter with crate puzzle elements?
DeleteAnd crafting! You can craft more crates to push around.
@Kyrieru
DeleteOr he just invades other worlds of new girls. I mean this character is sadistic anyway. I mean he kills countless of beautiful girls who just want to have love with him.
I guess this is highly irrelevant here ^^; but seeing as this is the most recent topic is it possible to see a togglable "Non-H" mode for Kurovadis much like Eroico in the near-future?
ReplyDeleteI only ask as I presume it won't be a hefty task and will be as simple as removing the knockdown state, changing the Flesh-Trap monsters to upon grabbing to jump straight to there "Semi-Vore" scene and swapping the ending CG.
However if this proves to much of a ask or would simply just take to much time to add then please disregard this request as I (And many people within this topic I believe) would much rather your worktime be spent on Noaika no matter how long it takes ^^ Many thanks!
It's possible.Though as you say, it would be after I've finished Noaika.
Delete"Click here to turn off the in-game H-content."
Delete[The game force-closes.]
Came for Hentai.
DeleteStayed for the Gameplay.
GG
I don't have fun playing this, very hard for an HGame.
ReplyDeleteThe save points are too far apart, the squids are cheap, the heroine's attacks are weak as hell.
Sometimes she won't jump up through platforms properly resulting in more cheap hits, her jumps feel weak as well.
You've just been pussified by the hand-holding modern games. Go play Demon Souls and return before bitching about the difficulty of this game.
DeleteThe beauty of H-Games is winning by losing, so I appreciate the enemies actually trying to do their job.
DeleteAs an aside though, he Kyrieru does provide an Easy Mode for his games. It's not that hard to provide more Life to the player to allow more mistakes after all.
Git gud scrub, you can just beg for a full gallery save while the REAL cool kids get their Megaman X on. So far it's a game that I would buy on Steam. It puts all the junky half-assed "retro inspired" metroidvania copies to shame with its unique art style, dark atmoslhere, a d smooth, dynamic combat.
DeleteYou know, it's okay for some people to dislike or even hate the game -__-
DeleteMy ego appreciates your support, though lol.
Hey again Kyrieru, I know I've asked before in more indirect manners but more specifically;
DeleteI was just wondering if it would take you much work or time to get a little APK working to get one of your games running on android. I'm a big fan of GBA emulators and have been playing Metroid games as of late and figured I personally really wouldn't mind rebuying an android version of any of your games.
Mmmm, I dunno, there are a lot of things I don't know how to do, and I think there are quite a few things that would need to be changed.
DeleteFor me, it isn't really a high priority since the demand is fairly low, and generally my games are the sort of things people play on PC. (Better controllers, more access to controllers, privacy, etc.)
As usual thank you for your reply!
DeleteI see, to be fair I have no insight in how to port such things to android myself otherwise I might be able to pitch in help myself..
I see the problem(s) you raise though so I suppose I'll have to wait and see.
Maybe someday you could potentially run a poll on interest rates?
Either way, cheers again for the time~
Op here,
DeleteI've played harder games but when the game is porn-related which I play to fap makes me frustrated to the point it makes me lose my erection and interest, then you've done a bad job.
It's not just an issue with this game but also with other HGames.
Know your target audience otherwise just scrap the entire porn part and make it a regular platformer.
Hey guys and guys pretending to be girls, let's send Ky our positive energy so he can make a Christmas miracle release! On three!
ReplyDeleteONE TWO THREE
WE BERIEVE IN YOUUUU
A month and no post? My disappointment is paramount.
ReplyDeleteThe post would basically look like this.
DeleteStill working,
Sorry again I'm taking so long.
Stress has been 50/50. workspeed has been slower than it should be.
Not in any financial trouble.
Other than that, all I could really talk about if future projects or plans, which I imagine would annoy people when there's still a game in progress.
Ok. My disappointment is a little less paramount now.
