Well, I don't really Stream that often, and it was more of a "I'll do it when I feel like it" kind of thing. I wouldn't want to say that it's on a certain day, only for life to get in the way.
Another Anon here. Still, I'd rather you put a schedule when you want to do the stream than miss it completely because I can't check the blog every hour. No one is going to kill you in case you can't do it, and I actually wanted to learn how you worked on these things as I'm sure some others do.
you mentioned in a previous update that these mini-bosses will change location monster-hunter style, but this one looks rather stationary. it does look fantastic though, and I can't wait to see what the other mini-bosses will look like!
Does each animation frame have to be completely redrawn, or is there some kind of shortcut or trick to reducing time on further frames? Cause this looks like a lot of work!
It depends. You can redraw everything. or you can animate by only redrawing a few key frames, and shifting/redrawing smaller parts in order to make the movement smooth. Alternatively, for some types of enemies there isn't much movement at all. (For example, the final boss from Kurovadis.)
But yeah, the bigger the sprite, and the more detail there is, the longer it takes. No way around it.
Just watched the Vod of the stream. Was amazed watching you turn a blob of colors into that incredible enemy. I can't wait to fight it! Does it, or any of the enemies for that matter, have names or just zombie, Squid, hanging guy and the like?
Also would it be possible for your next stream, if you do one, to show how you animate an enemy? Not the hanging guy specifically, but it would be cool to see the creation of an animation.
:( I was asleep.
ReplyDeleteMe too. D: I was totes looking forward to it and everything even!
ReplyDeleteMiss it every time
ReplyDeletePut a schedule in the sidebar.. Even scoured comments to find "maybe day after tomorrow"
:/

DeleteSigh... just consider it.
I'm wondering, are you incorporating the results of the poll you did some time ago into Noaika?
ReplyDeleteIf not, which game was it for?
And which one are you planning on picking up first, after the release?
Yes, the first main boss is based on the poll.

Nah, they don't really have names.
DeleteAnd yeah, I think animating something in a stream is long overdue.
