Well, the results are in, and it's a bit stacked. Most of the other votes didn't have many backers.
The winner this time was Shantae, by a lot. Looked something like this
Hilda (pokemon): 6
Midna: 7
Shantae: 19
There was also a strong push for futa within the Shantae votes, but there were more that were in support of the initial vote. That said, the first animation will be of her. Who knows, maybe second place will get a low-res sprite?
Regardless, the sprite will be released on saturday. (The plan is to release one each saturday)
Also, a couple people suggested that I do a poll instead. Basically I'd take single suggestions like I did this time, but then put the results into a poll. You wouldn't be able to mention specifics, but you also wouldn't have to read through all the comments, and there wouldn't be a bias because of stacked options. Of course, the other options would be to just take suggestions and choose among them myself, or come up with poll options myself.
What do you think? And sorry that this is complicated as hell right now, I'm still just deciding what exactly I want this to be -__-
Seems like Mr. Kyrieru operates off of Hofstadter's law (kek). Nonetheless I look forward to every thing you put out.
ReplyDeleteYay for Shantae XD Anyway, I believe that if you chose the poll results from votes, including some popular (of interesting for you) specifics, it would enable both a possibility for your fans/followers/this merry band of pervs to express themselves and for this whole system to be more ... systematic XD For example, someone could be more interested in your take on some kind of animation, than seeing the character themselves (judging from some of the votes). Anyway, whatever you produce, I am sure it will be good ;-)
ReplyDeleteAnd by poll results, I mean poll choices of course... XD
DeleteI think the poll option where people could suggest things would be best, like give us a day or 2 to come with suggestions and then let us vote for a day or two, the problem with this is that you wouldn't have a lot of time to finish the animation if each thing would take 2 days. if we had 1 day for each thing then a lot of people might miss out their chance to suggest something
ReplyDeletei don't know how fast you make these, so its up to you to decide if you should have 3 days to make the animation or 5 days byt less time for people to vote and such...
Well, these are going to be weekly animations, so the idea is that while I'm working on one, people would be voting on the "next" one. So I would always have 7 days to work on it.
DeleteIn total it will take anywhere from 3-6 hours, depending on the resolution.
Is this something that will be added to Noaika as a bonus, or is this a separate work that is being done beside the game. Also, will this slow down progress on Noaika?
ReplyDeleteThese are just going to be separate animations that are available to everyone.
DeleteIt's not going to effect Noaika's development, because I'm doing it during the time I have set aside for other stuff (drawing, practicing instruments, playing games, commissions the few times I've done them, etc.)
Hey Ky, what physical instruments can you play, anyways?
DeleteThe poll sounds better since the comments just looked like a clusterfuck of opinions also possibility of trolls. Keeping things organized is best.
ReplyDeleteI think a poll from ideas posted + encouraging people to post suggestions for the animation in the poll's comments is the best idea. It won't necessarily give you the best idea on what would be most popular to make, but gives more flexibility without making early ideas dominant simply from having been around longer.
ReplyDeleteShame on you all for not voting Samus.
ReplyDeleteBut god bless you all for voting Shantae.
So it's now when we start suggesting stuff for the poll that will be the next vote?
ReplyDeleteGirl riding a sex machine!
Well, normally it would be. But to make things less confusing, I think I'll save the new voting method for next week. For now, I'll just do the Shantae sprite this week, the Midna sprite next week, and then the week after that will be based on next week's votes.
DeleteNope, still confusing...
Awww, should have voted for Hilda.
DeleteAlright, next week.
My suggestion if you ever go the poll route:
ReplyDeleteVote: Salama from Amagi Brilliant Park
Scene: Salama with one of the park mascots.
So the animation would be up sometime next Tuesday?
From what I gather, he wants to make the animations done on Saturday, and the next voting will also take place then.
DeleteAnyway, I like the suggestion format you used. Better than just the character.
Yup, Saturday. That way I have a week to do any given animation.
DeleteI despise polls for this sort of thing, mostly because if the majority of voters have already shown what they favor, especially in this small pool, very similar ideas will always win from thereon. But if you're going to do it, why not just link a straw poll or forum poll? The current method convoluted the comments in that I have to scroll down a lot to see if anyone suggested something of my interest. A simple gathering of ideas with a check box is much easier on the eyes.
ReplyDeleteno polls. also boo@midna
ReplyDeleteWell, it's not possible to make everyone happy. But If not a poll, then what would be your ideal way of voting?
DeleteMidna's the best! Quiet, other anon! =P
DeleteSet up donations. Take the top 5 suggestions from the previous post. Have people donate to "vote" for an animation. The one with the most donators gets the first animation, then proceed in descending order. Perhaps if donations exceed a certain amount you'll make 2 animations or spend an extra week on it. Rinse and repeat. You don't need to make the minimum donation a large amount; a dollar. Maybe if you feel bad about it have a portion of it go to charity.
DeleteHere's a thought for a poll alternative.
ReplyDeleteEach week, you pick some kind of theme, for instance, "tentacles", and then people would vote for what character they want. Or the theme could be "Alena", and then people would vote for what position/partner etc. And then if people saw a vote they wanted, they would repley "upvote" or something. If they liked the idea, but wanted to add something, they'd have to make a new vote.
This would make it easier to you to decide what animation to do, as this way there would only be one variable, character or fetish/position, instead of both.
This adds a little more fairness. Or you could go back to random sketching everyday or streaming again.
DeleteWhy not have a twitter and a pixiv for these things?
Once I've done a couple animations, I'll probably just add a new page on the top bar. It's just easier than paying attention to a bunch of different sites at once.
DeleteAs for themes, I dunno. We'll see how it goes I suppose.
That's a good point, but making accounts to re-post things in may give you further exposure/advertising. There are a few automation options as well, for example, having various social media accounts pull posts from Twitter.
DeleteWell, there's certainly benefit in posting stuff in multiple places, I just don't want to have to worry about multiple places -__-
DeleteI might consider it, though.
I'm glad you're still doing the Midna one. I voted for Shantae because there's nothing of her, and because she's already a pixel art character (I hope you keep the same art style!), but I actually like Midna as a character more, hahah. =D
ReplyDeleteI'll try to match the art style, but I wouldn't match the sprite art style. It's going to be higher res than that.
DeleteThen you leave me no choice! I'll make my own to complement yours! See you on the drawing field in five days, Kyrieru! :P
Deletelol Anon is going to draw his own Shantae with blackjack and hookers
DeleteHell yeah I am. :'D
DeleteI'm going to enjoy Kyrieru's too, though. And I'm pretty sure his will be better than mine, hahah.
You going to be using the sexy twili Midna or the shitty imp?
ReplyDeleteThe imp version. I like her design in that form far more than the adult one. plus the adult one is only around for a few seconds, so it wasn't really as memorable to me, personally.
DeleteThey're both nice, but for different reasons. You're right that imp Midna is probably the more memorable form and I think that's a great choice to do.
Deletei dont like the imp version aswell, i believe it reminds me too much at loli
Deleteshe just looks too young to enjoy her i guess
I mean, I don't dislike loli, so that's not as much of an issue for me.
DeleteOf course, there's a different name for characters that are short and kind of chubby the way Midna is, though I can never remember what it is -__-
Crap, I missed the vote.
ReplyDeleteAs far as the voting goes, I like the option of letting people voice their ideas in comments, then taking the most popular choices (maybe the top 5?) and putting them into a poll.
If possible, let people vote on multiple options, so that we get an idea of what's generally wanted most, rather what people would choose if forced to pick only one option.
Seems like that might be a bit much for some people, since it would be like voting twice. Though it might be a good option.
DeleteI want to see more cas-ko, but I doubt enough people know her to even vote for her. Oh well, it's not as though there's any shortage of her out there. http://i.imgur.com/ypZMexE.jpg
ReplyDeleteOn a related note, do you do commissions?
Yeah, there isn't much of Tomo.
DeleteI do commissions sometimes. When I do it's pixel art commision work, because it's the only skill I have that's worth selling, more or less.
Might take you up on that sometime if I can think of a scene that would go well with that style and was cute enough. Would probably be non-h.
DeleteI'll say it once and I'll say it again, fuck FUTU, what a waste. >:| (to all my future haters towards this message, I'm already gone, later!)
ReplyDeleteP.S. Man, developers need to stop this crowd pleasing garbage. If you're doing it to raise money that's one thing, I get it you're desperate. But, if this is to create the "ideal" game or "popular opinion" game where ideas come together based on a community rather the developer itself, all I can say is MEHHHHHHHH.
I rather see a developer build a game with little to no feedback and have it be unpopular through and through then see a game built on other people's ideas and collaborations. Why? It's simple, though feedback is and I hate to admit it part of the process of development; Building a game H-content or not, in fact, doing anything with a sense of creativity that goes untouched and left entirely to the artist itself, personally brings more substance towards its creation then the former; there is more meaning and deep passion that screams the quintessential uniqueness in and of itself.
*Done RANTING* ARGH, I'll be back in 2-6 months for future updates. OPINIONS OF A RANDOM NOBODY! Don't Take THIS POST TO SERIOUS! ARGH!
BLARG!
But this isn't even for a game. It's just random animations -__-
DeleteJust ignore him, the mere mention of "futa" (which is what I think he's complaining about?) tends to send some people into a blind rage for some reason
DeleteHonestly I would just avoid futa animations unless you want to deal with a shitload of whining
Personally, I find that doing things that I never thought I'd do helps creativity flow more freely. There're limits I won't go past, I think everyone has those, but stepping a little outside your comfort zone or a set of standard ideas isn't necessarily a bad thing...people get worked up over the weirdest things.
DeleteYou've already worked with genie like creatures in Eroico, so isn't that fortunate that you've been tasked with bringing us Shantae? Be a troll and make her in monkey form, lol
ReplyDeleteWell, first I'm going to try and do a higher res POV shot. If I fail at doing that I'll do a more game-like one, but it would still be a lot more detailed than the one in Eroico. (Although it is funny how similar they are)
DeleteI'm looking forward to this. I think that you might will be able to gain some inspiration through this for future or current projects. I think it's generally a nice Idea, even it is a little bit on the complicated side how the poll took place. There might be a better way to do it. Nonetheless I think it's a nice idea even though it might distract you from your current projects a bit. Maybe it's just the right detraction you need to press on with further motivation. ^^ For my part, when I work on my projects, I also distract myself a little bit to find new inspiration. Looking forward for Sunday. ^^
ReplyDeleteYou're a cool guy Kyrieru.
