RIP Paypal account

Looks like after 8 years Paypal limited my account.

Well, at least it got me through the first few years until Steam decided to be the MVP.

I may set up a different account later, but for now it looks like I won't be taking sales through Paypal anymore. That said, none of my games have DRM, so even if the only option is Steam for a while, you will always be able to copy the games from the Steam folder and use them without Steam.

I will also have to switch over some stuff on other sites, since those were also linked with Paypal.

  1. that's terrible. maybe you could try to talk with a paypal representative and correct this problem. in the meantime, you should set up some alternative revenue generation: i would most definitely support you on a subscription service like patreon. please keep yourself healthy and try not to let things bog you down too much.

    1. I sell on Steam, so there's no financial troubles. They pay directly to your bank account.

It's mostly just annoying because I like being able to sell directly at a lower price. And also cause I use paypal for other stuff lol. Paypal going down effects Manga Gamer and DLsite income, mostly, but even those combined with direct sales don't come close to Steam.

  2. Quality is directly proportional to price
In other words, when will it be released?
    I'm looking forward to it

  3. Try a crypto currency wallet for christ sakes. I don't understand why pornographers choose the easiest method to get cancelled/blacklisted worldwide.
Even a mining page is more preferable than doxing an email address tied to your IP address and identity.

    1. Because not everyone has a credit card, but a lot of people have paypal accounts.
Using Paypal allowed me to make a living for the first 3-4 years of working on games. Using another method would have significantly lowered sales, and I would not have been able to do it full time as a result. I would also not have been able to make money through DLsite.

  4. Isn't like the solution to this is you just provide information to paypal, like verifying your identity? In Paypal, once you reach a certain threshold of transactions they limit your account and you need to verify your account. I had this done to my 2 paypal accounts now

    1. Nope. That happened within like a month of selling my first game. Was terms of service.

  5. Hi Kyrieru, are you still looking for a pixel artist, musician and/or programmer?

    1. I'm always open to the possibility. However it depends on the person's work, since my standards are fairly high.

  6. Wasn't there a loophole you were using? As in selling the key file instead of the actual game? Did you stop doing that or it didn't matter anyway?

    1. The loophole was that I was selling my games on a separate site that had no indication that the games had porn. Essentially that gets past the initial check of "Oh, let's see what he's selling. Hmm..looks like videogames. Ok"

So chances are somebody reported it, rather than them finding out about it themselves.

    1. For now I am, thanks to Eroico on Steam.
I will also be releasing Kurovadis on Steam, so that will probably make money a non issue for a while. Main concerns at the moment are just health related.

Did steam allow you to upload the content as-is? Or did it give you gruff about the whole "your character is highly inflated by a cum tentacle" thing?

    1. There aren't really any limitations other than age.

  9. You probably have this answered somewhere else, but what happened to your Patreon?

    1. Main thing is that financially I didn't really need it anymore, so I felt that I was better off spending all of my time on games.

It's actually still there, it just isn't active anymore. Weirdly I still have Patrons.
